Have you had a change of feelings about your E-ring

I love my ring. It's still very new though compared to some... Only a year and it took three settings to get it right and two different center stones. So I should be happy.

Of course I was totally lusting after an old cut  So it's on lay-a-way and for a period of time it will be in a solitaire so I can enjoy that look... Eventually, it will be in a bezel of some kind...so I will still get to enjoy the non-halo look too...and still have my halo e-ring.

Do I wish it was bigger... Who doesn't but Gypsy said... Not size. I guess we all have DSS. Even my new one on lay-a-way... I keep thinking I should have held out longer for bigger :Up_to_something:

DSS is bad! I have it! I looked at a 3 stone right; the weight was 2 carats and the side stones were 1 carat each! I thought I could totally be cool with that ring!

I know, I had a bad case of it!! In fact, when my ring came and I popped it on my finger, after I oohed and aaahed and said it's gorgeous, I kind of mumbled - I think I could go a little bigger! My husband just looked at me like this >  After wearing it for a while though, I'm good with this size!

I cannot truthfully say that I've had a change of feelings so much about my e-ring; I do love it and I'm also sentimental about it.

Had I known about old cuts at the time, though, I'd have definitely gone that route instead. I much prefer the beautiful patterns of a stunning OEC, but I didn't know about them then.

I'm fortunate enough to have been able to swing several old stones for various projects, and that's probably why my feelings haven't changed about my e-ring. I get to enjoy the old stones for the way they speak to me and my e-ring for the what it means to me (and for its beauty - it IS beautiful to me.)

To ME too. But I'm also a fan of the wearer. ;))

HA - right back at ya, my friend - HUGE fan of you and that beautiful little peanut girl!

I think I'm lucky that we couldn't afford a ring right away (while keeping a savings cushion and not going into debt!) and have had time to process what I wanted in my ring.

I wore a sim temp ring for almost 2 years - along with various bands, and a Tourmaline square cut 6 x 6 mm RHR for years before that. I knew I wanted a square diamond. I had read about asschers and had seen princesses - my fave years ago was the Michael B petite Princess pave ring. Once we actually did research on the cost of diamonds, I realized I needed a Halo to get the size I wanted on my hand (my pudgy short fingers!).

I definitely think that helped me work through all of my tastes in diamonds, and I got try on a ton of rings and look at a ton of diamonds since then. We almost got a crushed ice Radiant more than a year ago in a Harry W type setting and decided to put off the purchase at that time. I know so much more since then and am glad it happened. I've only had the ring a week and love it more every day - but we'll see 5 years from now.

I do yearn for an asscher someday, but I may be satisfied with a gem asscher as a RHR. And I did get my aqua-colored topaz recut into an Emerald from Jerry at Gemart the week before I got my e-ring, so that may tide me over, too! :) Not that I don't troll ebay on a weekly basis for diamond rings or stop at the Pawn Shop while waiting for takeout earlier today... I'm just a jewelry fan!

My feelings towards my rings have definitely evolved. DH proposed with the diamond (exactly what I wanted, a .75 round, and it's a D VS2, to boot!) in a simple 6 prong, with the intent that I pick a setting I wanted.

3 years later I finally did, and I was pretty darned happy with it. And then I regretted my metal choice for a while, until I realized that yes, you really can polish palladium back to its original glory. And now I adore it.

I went through a brief phase after I found PS where I wished I had a branded H&A stone, until I did some comparisons and realized that to my eyes, I really can't tell the difference. I amazingly haven't gotten DSS either, at least not with my e-ring stone.

I waffle about upgrading the stones in my wedding ring (1 pointers in a bezel band) since I had originally wanted 2 pointers, but then I realized that that would increase the width and height of my wedding ring, and at the moment the width of my set is perfect and comfortable, and by some fluke the heights match perfectly as well between my ering and wedding ring.

So, I went from a lot of little changes I wanted to make, to really being supremely happy with what I have. If/when I ever destroy my setting, I might reset into a bezel to save some winter gloves from an untimely demise at the points of my prongs, but other than that, I love what I've got.

My feelings have definitely changed. I have a beautiful stone, but I think I might sell the whole thing at some point. It was a long time dream but once I got it I found it didn't mean as much to me as I thought it would. I still think it is pretty and I like the stacking bands with it, but I don't wear it every day anymore. If I don't wear it for a few days and then put it back on again, I enjoy it. It is a lot of money tied up in it, and a lot to insure it each year and I worry about something happening to it. Who knew...

Like DD I have come to the realization I'll never have a forever ring for my e-ring. That's ok. I figure over the years people change, tastes change. I have a lot of beautiful colored stones in fantastic settings, some old stones, some RB's. I wear whatever I feel like on any given day. But per the thread in RT...we all know I've always wanted a giant honking solitaire so I figure that's one thing that will never change lol. I think that my husband has a harder time with the fact that my e-ring isn't a forever ring than I do. I point out that I squeezed a giant melonheaded boy out of my wahoo for him (obviously not just for him, but it's a fun joke) so he should have absolutely no worries about my 'commitment' to the relationship. Jewelry is just an adornment, like clothes. Just more expensive.

My husband felt like this too for a long time, but somehow he has gotten over it. Similar jokes may have been involved ;)) He just wants me to wear *something* now, and because I know it means a lot to him that I wear a ring all the time to make clear my marital status, I make sure to always wear some sort of ring.
