Love the picture! I actually like spiders--maybe I saw Charlotte''s Web too many times as a kid, haha. As long as it''s not a cockroach, I''m cool! I''ve never seen a spider like that before either, but I think it''s pretty.

That's an awesome spider - I love pink! Ha!

But seriously, ever since I started renting this house, I have seen TOO many varieties of spiders inside and outside the house. I moved in this house in April and haven't been able to really clean the outside. I've been walking up to my front porch when I come home and it looks like the Munsters - spiderwebs EVERYWHERE. I finally got a broom and got rid of them...what a difference!

Did you name it yet?

The good thing about spiders is that they kill the really bad bugs.

I have taken to rescuing the spiders out of the shower now so they can protect me.
I know, I am weird, but I keep thinking of the tibet movie with brad Pitt where the workers would not injure the worms because, they said, every good Buddhist knows that any worm might well be their grandmother!

spiders scare the crap out of me. But that looks like a crab spider or something. There''s a website that''s great at identifying bugs and arachnids. what''s that bug

I know, its a Canadian spider!

Good to see you around. I have not seen you lately.

LOL @ all you spider lovers!

I''ve been getting the bejeebies all day thinking about this thread.

I had a melt down a few year ago when someone sent me an email about brown recluses and their flesh necratizing bites. Geez, talk about giving someone an anxiety attack.

Though i confess, as long as they are outside, I don''t kill spiders, and I love to watch them make webs! (shhhhhh!!!!)

Sorry about the flashback Trill!

I used to bring Daddy Longleg spiders into my room when I was little. Mom was patient until they made big webs in the corner of my room. Right now, I''m waiting for them to re-web in the corner of our garage....we had it painted recently. It is neat to watch them catch mosquitoes in their webs. Spiders work SO hard spinning their webs!

When we were kids, and on vacation in one of the caverns around Texas, a HUGE clump of spiders fell from the ceiling of the cavern and landed on a lady''s head....you should have heard her scream! My brother and I thought it was funny.

Oh my goodness, she''s so LOVELY!!! What did you do with her?

kewl pics babe

I saw the spider today that spent the winter in my kitchen.
I almost brought her back in cuz there is a fly that is driving me nutz.
This fly has moves let me tell ya, has avoided getting swatted over 20 times.

Even though I''m afraid of spiders, I like the fact that they eat bugs and keep my surroundings bug and bee free.

I get far less mosquito bites since I began rescuing the spiders.

Oh, she is ADORABLE!!!

Here in Victoria (Aus) we get some whopping big specimens... we have a gum tree in our back yard, which huntsmans adore nesting in. Just last week I had a handspan sized lady spider greet me on the wall at the back door! She was doing a good job at keeping the bug population under control, what a girl! I did warn her against the perils of heading down the wall too low to the ground, as my two mini fox terriers are experts at dismantling rather large spiders, should they get within reaching distance
27.gif
DH called out to me wondering who on earth I was talking to! I replied 'just the spider out near the back door', to which he replied 'oh, no worries'.

He's used to me conversing with the local wildlife, creepy crawlies included

Spiders fascinate me.

See now THAT''S the one thing that''s keeping me from a visit to beautiful Australia. HANDSPAN SIZE SPIDERS?

NO THANKYOU VERY MUCH!

I have a terrible phobia of spiders. Any thing bigger than a centimetre and I cry, scream and run away, or get my FI to remove them. He loves them. YUK!

That is one amazing moth!!! :} great pic too!!

Thank you all for your replies. It has been confirmed through YouTube that it is indeed a white crab spider. It was so kewl to see it appear on the screen when I didn''t even know it was there - then again I would have still taken the pic - spiders do not freak me out. But I did want to make sure that I did post in the topic that it was one just for those who can''t stand them :}
I took a couple of pics the other day of a spider trying to kill a caterpillar - I saw next morning it had succeeded - they have to survive too :}:}:}
Thank you again and everyone have a great week :} Mine will be busy for the next 3 weeks - the niece and 3 nephews are here and Auntie keeps very busy helping Grandma and Grandpa :} and loves every minute of it :}

I''m STILL SO EXCITED about this amazing creature....a pink and white crab spider......AWESOME!!!! I''d love to see any other creatures you find in your garden.....

Enjoy the kiddos!!!

Scary. I HATE spiders...but then again, I grew up with Brown Recluses and hundreds of Black Widows...

What a cool picture. She''s a beaut

I lived in australia for a year and taught a grade 3 class. On my first day i was telling the class about my canadian self and was explaining how we have big animals like moose and bears in our back yards and i don''t find those scary, but admitted i was scared of the BIG spiders in australia. At that moment a little boy, in his adorable aussie accent asked " Ms. J, have u seen a huntsman spider yet?" I replied with a "nope, and iam cool with that", to which he replied with "well, turn around, there is one above your head". The class was hysterical when i kinda jumped to look at the huge spider perched on the wall of the classroom. They happily kept this palm-sized spider around for his bug-catching abilities

Add me to the, "If it's outside I'm okay with it" camp of spider dislikers. Creepy.

But dang, that's a pretty cool spider all things considered!

Wow, that pink and white spider sure has good camoflague.

I really have a fear of spiders. And bugs in general.

When I was a kid in the Midwest, I saw a black widow at my best friend''s house. Fortunately it went away but I still remember the feeling of being so freaked out that I forgot to move.

And a few years ago my friend and I saw the craziest jumping hairy red spider on a bus in Manhattan. It was on someone''s backpack about 3 rows away from us, and then I saw it jump in the air. It was pretty big too. I started shrieking and running to the back of the bus and then everyone else did too. We got off the bus at the very next stop. Even now, writing this I am overcome by a weird mixture of laughing and shivers.

I have never seen anything so crazy, even in the tropics. Although this is why I will never live in the southwest - my friend tells me that she has seen scorpions in her house!!!!
