have you ever gotten into an argument with members ...

HA! You post your name on some of the bridal forums and the crazies will argue with you that you are wrong. Try it sometime, you'd have fun on a bridal forum DF.

Yes, I have in the past. There''s one forum I''ve been a member of since 2005 and some women are catty and constantly start fights and I would make a post and someone would make a comment attacking me. I use to respond, but now I''m too lazy and don''t really care to waste my time getting in ridiculous arguements.

Yes, but they are so dull by comparison! We''ve got the bling AND the snark. We have it all!

it wasn''t dull when you were on ATW threads.

Deb said...i''m not allowed to post on BWW.

I meant other boards entirely. Exlclusively bridal ones. I'm just thinking of all the damage you could do with a bride complaining about her parents being too cheap to pony up for the 10K dress they have their heart set on, and bemoaning the fact that they are 'stuck' with their 5K dress budget.

And yeah. I'm with Deb. You are NOT allowed on BWW. Think it would be a riot to see you in LIW though. I think they ladies there would manage to send you screaming for the hills within a week tops.

The shark forum I am a mod on (a baaaad one since I''ve not been there in forever-good thing it''s not busy anymore) used to have horrible fights-threatening bodily harm and legal action. One guy told me he was going to find out where I live so he could kill me and my kids to pay my husband back for being a hunter.

No, I can''t say that I have.
I don''t really like confrontation, IRL or on the internet. I like to play nice

Try looking at the ExxonMobil message board....there were quite a few "idiots" posting on there about boycotting the Exxon gas stations and how that would put the Company out of business. No matter how many times you told them it wouldn''t work, they would yell and scream at you. It was brutal. We stockholders got into constant battles with these "uneducated" posters.

Yes, I''m a retiree of ExxonMobil and three generations of my family worked for various forms of the Company...my DH''s father and grandfather worked for Gulf Oil which became part of Chevron.

Big oil has supported our families for generations and continues to support me in my disability retirement. People can gripe all they want about the profits that EM makes, but at least they aren''t going bankrupt or asking for assistance from the government. They have excellent business plans for the future and continue to reward their stockholders with dividends and benefits for their retirees.

I had a really yucky conversation once that caused me to leave a forum. It was a social
networking site where we discussed women''s stuff, including politics.

The moderator of the forum was getting stuck into ''capitalism'', and was really cranky about how business owners made money out of exploiting underpaid workers.

At the time, we were living with our toddler in a garage above our business, and were paying our receptionist more than we were paying ourselves! This is a situation that had been ongoing for three years.

I told her this, and said that it was frustrating to read a one-size-fits-all reading of business ownership. Her response was that we were obviously lousy at business, and should get out.

I asked her how she would propose we get out.

Her next post was a diatribe about how we were basically lying about our circumstances and that as business owners, we were bound to be sitting on a bundle! And that we shouldn''t expect people to work for nothing!

That was the end of the conversation, and the end of my presence in that forum.

Her uninformed anti-business /capitalism attitudes are standard for Australia though!

We are going through all the anti-business stuff again on media blogs right now, partly because of the banking disaster but also because our new left government is renewing the unionisation of our workforce with a gusto.

Dancing Fire,

You must show me where I said that! I know nothing about the BWW or the LIW forums! If I have ever posted in either of them it is simply because I happened to see a specific thread that caught my eye. I know nothing about their tenor or who frequents them! I must say that my curiosity is now piqued, however. If there are strong women posting in the LIW threads, maybe I would enjoy them!

By the way, everyone, why would the LIW threads be more cuthroat than the BWW threads? I mean, why would Dancing Fire last a shorter time in the former forum!?

Ahh I hear yah Lara- similar to your situation (the business part of it anyways- paid our worker so much more than ourselves- plus I was working a full time job to do so to keep us a float -though in the end we got out of the businesses)
that sucks that the mod jumped in and made those comments. its unfortunate.

No, he''s a private collector. The most expensive one he has is a pure white one with a purfect round red circle on the top of it''s head like a Japanese flag. He wanted my children to feed his koi''s, I made sure that they didn''t do that...

OK...I feel a threadjack coming. First this made me think of a puppy I bought as a know-nothing college kid in New York City. I went into a store and bought an Irish Setter puppy who ended up having distemper. The store owners (later) asked why I didn't just "bring him back"? (Maybe I wanted money back?) At any rate, the idea of "bringing back" a sick animal I loved was unthinkable! All I wanted was to have him live!!! (Which he did. And, after that, I gave him to a nice couple in my hometown in Connecticut who could care for him better than I could in New York City!)

At any rate, I am wondering why I got attached to posting on diamond forums, first one then another, when diamonds are a very recent and relatively unimportant interest and dogs are a lifelong passion.

How did that happen? How did some of you other posters (like you, CharmyPoo) find your way to dog fora/forums? I wonder if I would find them too sad? Do other dog lovers frequent them?
