Have you ever discovered something living in your Christmas tree?

We have an artificial tree so no real worries there but I got a huge kick out of this article.

Someone here had a squirrel or "something", I remember that harrowing tale. We only ever had big spiders. That alone was enough for me to say no more!

Just my cat in our artificial tree :)
I keep seeing reports about various bugs in trees, so I am going to stick with my faux tree.

@lyra, squirrels can do a lot of damage inside a house so finding one in the tree is a rather scary prospect.

@KaeKae, what is it about cats and trees? We had a cat that used to sit in the middle and then paw at people who walked by lol!

I just love his little face, so cute. Photo credit to Daily Mail of course

No, no animals. But we have a fake tree, so lots of dust!

You should get one of those Christmas tree bags! We bought one last year but the mice decided to chew a hole in it so that was money wasted.

Was it a mouse, a mole or a shrew?

That's funny! Ours is a 6 month old kitten. She climbs and jumps on EVERYTHING. Including ME!

So far, she's gone straight up the middle of the tree. I actually left it lit but nekkid for over two weeks, in hopes that she'd grow tired of it. She sort of has. In part thanks to the spray bottle I started keeping next to the tree and giving her a squirt when I caught her close to it. Our much older cat never was interested, except to sleep under the tree, too bad she won't follow his example!

Yup, cats only in our artificial tree. LOL I think I would have a heart attack if I found an owl in our tree. I love owls but not in our house. Poor thing.

Yes right in the center. The weirdest thing. Cats are very strange creatures. Our cat is not a kitten either.

That owl is adorable! What a nice little surprise!

You should've heard the screaming (me) when cricket after cricket kept jumping out of our tree after we brought it home this year. I still haven't recovered.

I read about the owl and thought it was a joke until I saw the cute pics!

DK :))

The owl is the cutest!

HI:

Yes. Mine is an old story; perhaps posted here? Brown spiders and other assorted bugs. A real riot.:o

cheers--Sharon

Beautiful little horned owl! Owls are such awesome raptors.

@lambskin, at least the bird were well on their way by the time you got your tree!

@KaeKae oh the mischievous kitten age, although none of ours have climbed straight up, they more jump into it. That must be a great fun for a cat, also imagine this huge plaything mysteriously appearing and then just as mysterious, it disappears without warning lol!

@missy, he looks very comfortable nestled in that tree.

@KristyDarling, oh no to the crickets! My sons would have a good time with that. Actually DH told me yesterday that the preying mantis likes to lay eggs in pine trees and they look like pine cones. Imagine coming out one warning to s mantis decorated tree!

@dk168, I probably wouldn't believe one of my kids if they said there was an owl in the tree, they are always pulling some silly prank.

@canuk-gal, spiders and bugs...oh my! Not in keeping with the holiday decorating for sure.

@doberman, so true although I have never personally seen one up close it would be great to spot one.

@winnietucker, owls are so cute their little facial expression makes them look eternally happy.

@luv2sparkle, aren't owls the cutest? Love them.

Oh my gosh. I love owls but I would scream if I saw one unexpectedly in my tree.

Thanks Stephanie. Tommy knows how to make himself comfortable for sure. LOL. Love how easily they all do that. A few pics of Tommy making himself comfortable. No matter where he is.

It must be a big tree to have an owl that made it its home!

DK

We hosed the tree off before bringing it in. Seems to help with the creepy crawlies.

Love all the cats in trees photos!! When Alex was a kitten he LOVED climbing the tree. Now, 14lbs and three-legged, he’s settled for meditating in front of it. He also meditates in front of his litterbox so... not entirely sure he’s got the right idea there.

@boxbits, you and me both, actually I would be afraid it would attack one of our cats!

@Catmom, omg love your picture! Haha they look to be throughly enjoying the holiday season.

@yssie, smart idea to hose it down! Our cat tries to sit under the tree but between her roundness and the low hanging branches, it doesn't work out so well.

I love pics of kitties in trees. No doubt the owners may not be amused if the trees are toppled over and damaged, however the cats look so happy in the pics!

Ummmmm that is my absolute worst freaking nightmare!!:eek-2:

Tommy is living his best life! That is one crazy cute cat!

 They do say you can meditate anywhere! Hosing off first is an intriguing idea, but then aren't you bringing a dripping wet tree into the house??

One winter in PA, I was out for a walk in the woods and saw the most beautiful dried wheat-like grasses.
So I picked them and made a nice centerpiece on the kitchen table.
The next morning, there were tiny inch worms hanging from threads all over the dried plants and crawling on the table! I guess the warm air in the house caused them to hatch! I'll never forget that.......

Haha it spends a couple days drying off in the garage. The hope is that the garage has less wildlife than the great outdoors... so far it seems to have held...

We’re lucky to have an outdoor reservoir (off the well) to feed it. We usually winterize late fall. If we waited until December to do the house we’d have burst pipes for sure!

Omg nooooo!!! Lol way to make sure I never bring anything that once lived outside into my house again! I hate bugs x.x

As for the post question. Thankfully no. But we also have an artificial tree. The only thing sometimes living in it would be my cat and definitely my cats at my dad's lol.
