Have we over-estimated how much people can eat?

We both come from families who LOVE their food, hence why we picked our reception venue.. but as we were going over everything last night I started wondering if people will actually be able to eat all this?

Roving Dinner- 14 items
Canapes
- Peeled Crystal bay Prawns with Avocado Salso
- Thai Beef Salad with Green Papaya & Thai Herbs
- Crispy Soft Shell Crab with Lime aioli
- Salt and Szechwan pepper Calamari
- Coconut Risotto with Satay Chicken
- Spring Rolls with Beef Fillet and Shiitake Mushrooms
Soup Shot
- Laksa
Main Courses
- Veal Scaloppini with Celeriac Puree, Crisy Sage and Onion Jam
- Pan Friend Gnocchi with Sauteed Wild Mushrooms, Fresh Peas and Truffle Oil
- Chicken "Pad Si Ew" with Garlic Chives and Bean Sprouts
Dessert Canapes
- Chocolate Mocha Tarts
- Mini Pavlova with Mascarpone, Strawberries and Passionfuit Coulis
- Semi Freddo of White Chocolate, Pistachio & Prailine with Gold Leaf
- Tiramisu

There will also be an Asian Dumping Bar and a Messina Gelato Bar as well as our wedding cake which is four tiers, the bottom three tiers made up of chocolate truffles, strawberries dipped in chocolate and profiteroles. The top tier is our cake, which is hazelnut fudge, with dark chocolate shards.

What do you think? Could you fit all that in?

Quick question though, the canapes (14 items) does that mean everyone will get 14 items each?

Well, it is a lot of food but i think if it is served with good timing it will be fine. Let me explain...

For our wedding we had a cocktail style reception and i think it worked out to about 14 pieces of food for each person plus a food box later on in the night. Our co ordinator assured us that it would be more than enough food for everyone, but on the night we went REALLY wrong with the timing of the food. Everyone was starving by the time they got in to the reception (7pm) but there wasn't alot of food coming out, when the majority of the food finally came at 8.30 everyone pigged out and then at the end of the night there were at least 20 food boxes on the table untouched becasue everone filled up on the finger food only 1.5 hours before.

See, we were worried that people would still be hungry later on but it didn't work out that way. We should have put the canapes out there early on when people were hungry, let it settle and then bring more out.

So there is a point...

I think as long as you get the food out early and give lots of spacing in between 'courses' everyone will do their best to eat it all!!

Phew.. i got there in the end.

i think you''ll be right with the food...each course at a wedding is usually smaller than you would find at a pub/restaurant, and you''re eating and drinking over a long period of time so its more like grazing....

That sounds awesome! And not too much at all. How many people are invited?

Oh, and I would hang out all night at the dumpling bar

That sounds AMAZING! If you feel like you need more people there to ensure that this is all consumed, I''m free

it sounds fabulous -if I were there, I would absolutely try to eat it all :)

Oh my gosh, your menu looks AMAZING. If you have any extra, I''m sure your PS friends will be HAPPY to take it off your hands!

I have no idea about how much is too much, though. If your caterer thinks it''s good, then I''d trust his judgment.

Sounds delicious.

I''d certainly make every effort to eat it all

As long as it is spread out through the evening, I''m sure your guests will be fine.

As a guest, I would definitely make sure to sample everything. The entire menu sounds delish!!! (Maybe not the dumping bar

But seriously, what is a dumpling bar? Are they premade? Do guests get to custom make their dumplings? The idea sounds so awesome!

HI:

I have a suspicion that people will make their best effort to eat it all--I know I would! Sounds terrific!

cheers--Sharon

Princess- The dumpling bar will have a chef who will custom make what everyone wants, he has his own little station filled with ingrediants.

Thanks for the feedback ladies, we will just leave everything as is!
