I lost the diamond in my wedding ring it was a .71 ct g color si1 clarity 5.78 by 3.48 round and in 1985 I paid $1800.00 for it, did I pay too much back then or have the prices of diamonds just not increased much? Also, now I think I want to upgrade to around 1.3 to 1.5 and need advise how much should I spend. Also, has anyone had experience buying a diamond thru Costco. Any advise would be appreciated, thanks

You can plug in the stats from your lost stone, and see what that typically costs now, and plug in the stats for your replacement stone and see what that will cost you. Use the "Pricescope Your Diamond" in RED at the top left of the screen...

And whatever currency you are planning to use you should factor in the cost of a certain amount of inflation annually - perhaps using the Consumer Price Index if you are thinking of dollars - you may be able to find a website which would help you. Since the dollar is so far down compared to the Euro and diamonds are an imported commodity this affects its costs today compared to the past. I can remember when Gold was less than $300 per ounce - nowadays it is close to $1000.
