over the last few months, i have the sudden urge to BUY coloured diamonds, in particular= orange, brown and yellow! THere has been a pink that i have been eyeing off but i think that will have to wait till my numbers come in the lotto ticket that i sometimes buy!!!!

But, sensibility kicks in as we have just moved and there are a few things we are doing to the house that make is 'us'; i guess mini renovations.

However, it still doesnt stop me from the want.....or should i say need!!!! :Up_to_something: :Up_to_something:

Every time we talk about other reno's my brain keeps thinking FCD's!!!!

Has that happen to other PSers? maybe i am strange!!! LOL

Umm Greg, look around. If you're strange we're certifiable haha. Believe me, PSers all share a similar addiction to jewels. They may differ in specifics but it's basically the desire to own beautiful jewelry. And if that's cuckoo well, I don't want to be sane! :cheeky: Enjoy!!! :appl: (without going into debt or financial hardship ofc ::) )

Look at how many people keep changing their engagement rings here and I would say the answer is yes!

Yes! And every time that happens, I look at my bank account balance and the urge is gone. :appl:

Greg, I have spent a little under 10k on jewelry since like February.

I am like missy says, certifiable.

I avoid the pre-loved section. It leads to thoughts of loose stones and other such beautiful things.
I have quit looking at the FCD's in Kenny's collection because then I really want them too.
The colored stones section leads to hours of daydreaming too. Just imagining the wonderful things I could do with a nice ruby or emerald or tourmaline or peridot or.....

The urge isn't sudden. I blame my grandmother. She trained me from a very young age!

The reality of home ownership, wedding planning, college tuition, 4 cats, 2 dogs, and a teenager sort of step in ;(
Doesn't mean I can't dream and start making plans for major b-days, anniversaries, and completing various degrees!

YES. Always. But the husband is a bit more sensible than I am and keeps the bigger purchases tied to holidays/ special events than me going... SHINY. I MUST HAVE. MINE. :))

It's an ongoing issue... I need done sort of intervention!

You're talking to people on a forum devoted to luxury goods.

In other words, yes, I am passingly familiar with that urge.

I've spent well over 1k at JCrew in the past month alone. :halo: (In my defense, my honeymoon is in Scotland, which is cold, and I live in Texas, which is not, so I needed to buy a lot of long-sleeve shirts and sweaters!)

My fiance is not more sensible than me... it's a running joke that we are the WORST enablers of each other. We don't spend beyond our means, but never say "no" to a purchase if we can afford it. Occasionally we both feel really guilty about it because it's not how either of us was raised (we both had penny-pinching no-luxuries-ever save-all-the-money mothers) but sometimes buying stuff makes us happy!

That's like asking if anyone here farts.

Kenny, your post made me think of the following pic that circulated on my FB page today!

Hahahahaha!

No, I never have the urge to buy something. All the gems on my table just followed me home....what could I do, turn them out into the cold? I opened a separate savings account a few months ago, where my spare shekels go, & there's enough to do something with in there now. It's BURNING A HOLE IN MY POCKET!

Yesterday, I was at IDJ, Tiffany's , Cartier and Diamonds by Lauren....no, I don't know what you mean about a sudden urge to buy things--- please explain this phenomenon!!!

:naughty: :Up_to_something: :naughty:

Yes of course I do! But I try to resist all of these urges as I find that I never really like impulse purchases.

I decided to tackle this problem by maintaining a wish list on my iPad.

Whenever I like something, I add it to the list. If it's still there in a few months, then I buy it.

I was shocked to see how much stuff I didn't want after I'd sat on it a while!

I am a keen perfume and jewellery collector and I have to really watch it, or else I'd be overrun very quickly.

It really works for me to wait.

The urge certainly strikes, usually when I see too many nice things here but looking at how happy and fat my bank account is, coupled with a few days' wait helps keep me from clicking the BUY button. :))

Not necessarily diamonds, thankfully for my accounts, but makeup, purses, clothes, shoes, cellphone crap, damn near everything at Target...My husband was away on a business trip the other day, and we have a local grocery chain having SERIOUS drama with a credit card security breach so nearly all the banks and card companies are having lockdown city on your cards, any charge over 100 sends them into a tizzy. Well he and his coworker are picking their rental car up and checking into their hotels and they both had to call their card companies to confirm charges so they could check in. DH gets to Discover and they're like did you spend XX at Zappos, and XX at Target and XX at Target again and XX at Walgreens and then a purchase of XX at Honest.com and then a purchase of XX at Ulta and then a purchase of XX at Sephora.com and then a return of XX at Nordstrom and he goes "she used this card at Nordstrom, doesn't she HAVE a nordstrom card? What the hell?" and then goes "all this within how long of a window. Holy crap. You guys must just love my wife. She loves to buy sh@t." And the guy goes "so then I assume those are your charges?" and he goes well technically they're not mine but yes, I already saw those on our site, and she already warned me.

*hangs head in shame*

Ilander posted last month with a picture of her porsche! I completley fell in love and have been looking for them online and even did a test drive. I really want one but at the same time I also really don't need one. It is hard for me to refrain I admit but I'm going to hold out another year and see what happens. I was patience was a better virtue for me. :blackeye:

I do this too! I have a $2.5k annual bling budget (huge for most, small for PS!). Knowing that I have that limit makes me so thoughtful about purchases. The other day I made a multiyear bling purchase plan. I do strategic planning for a living so I was laughing at myself creating a "strategic plan" for bling!

Yes, big time! I ordered a ton of stuff online last week. Also, I've branched beyond black leathered handbags into bright colors. Yes, I've finally done it. Started buying colored ones. One of the new ones has gotten a lot of compliments which means I must have MORE! I may end up filling up my entire closet.

Yes, definitely!

But I also love saving money so the urge usually passes.

My husband buys every single thing he likes on amazon. I have a thing for nail polish and my husband is getting sick of all the unused bottles. We both love whole foods and have dropped $700 this month alone. I think it's a little too much. I threw everything I wanted into the shopping cart since I knew I'd have them deliver everything. I wish my bank account would allow me to buy more jewelry! Since I downloaded the eBay app, I'm afraid that I'm going to make a purchase soon.

Guilty! But it department stores too!!! I CANT STOP!!! :errrr: :blackeye:

I have a friend that went with me to look at e-rings, she ended up buying two Tacori settings one with a yellow diamond and one with a pink diamond. She has worn the yellow one once. (pretty sure she is willing to sell these now)
As for me I have had a Tacori setting, Verragio setting, three local store settings(the last one I hated) and then I realized the diamond I had was not doing it for me so I traded the three settings and the diamond on my current oval diamond. I'm happy as can be with it, but now my search for the setting is on!!(which I am starting to dream about)
Next purchase will be a band, I am loving the french cut ones and the ones with the bezel set with the milgrain that I keep seeing on this site.
