Had to take them before someone got home (and took the camera on a trip, so no new ones for a while)

Guess what color shirt I was wearing

Working with Pete at Quest on a custom setting. Head will be a rosebud similar to the one below; replacing the pave'd circle underneath with a straight bar. I'm guessing there's going to be some back and forth on prong/claw; not really sure what I want to do there.

The shank will be a rounded pave similar to below, covering roughly 2/3 of the diameter. The plan is to have an overall soft look to the setting to provide a good contrast to the sharp planes of the stone.

What are the specs on that baby?
And I adore your ideas for the setting, especially the head on the first one. You have extremely good taste! I''m sure your lady will be so happy, well done!

Love your pics, especially the fire shot!

Wow, that asscher is just lovely. Your setting sounds quite intriguing as well. I cannot wait to see it finished.

Absolutely beautiful!!!!

This is the 1.22 I got from Good Old Gold. Ideally the windmills would be a little bigger, but overall I''m quite happy. The whole setting process should be 4-6 weeks, so that should be interesting.

Gorgeous asscher! I can''t wait to see the ring!

Did you arrange all this yourself (with Jon''s help), or was your GF involved in the selection process?

If not much help was required, you can choose my jewellery any day

The stone was all me and Jon (obviously she picked the shape). I refused to take "I''m sure any setting you pick will be lovely" as an answer and "forced" her to check out various settings with me. (Best I could tell, what she really wanted was an elegant, timeless classic that no one else had. No way I was taking responsibility for that on my own

I had already decided I liked that head - I liked the look that was sort of halo-y without being as closed in. Left to myself I would have paired it with the ''20s Cartier beaded-style shank, which probably would have been, in fact, lovely. She preferred the rounded 3-row honeycomb pave look; she thought it gave a nice general brightness without any individual element drawing the eye from the center. Pity the poor guy drilling all the teeny-tiny holes.
