All the questions about durability issues because of a feather! I know appraisers have to make money too, and it
is good to get a large purchase re-checked. However........

Have you had a diamond, ever, which has changed because of a feather? For people who have worn diamonds for
years aswell, even cheaper diamonds like included cluster rings in the past, did your diamond ever crack, split, change?

Can't comment as I do not recall having a feather in any of the diamonds I own or owned.

DK :))

Someone close to me had a princess cut with a large i1 feather clearly eye visible but it was what they could afford when they got engaged and she love it.
One day it got dropped in the sink almost 1/2 the diamond shattered, the part of the diamond with the feather was in perfect condition.

Another one I know of did have a fracture in the area of a feather but not at the feather.
My opinion is how, where, and direction of the energy if it is hit has more effect on the extent of the damage than if there is a feather in an impact situation.

The above said:
In theory a large open feather can get water trapped in it and extreme temperature changes can cause a fracture but does it happen in the real world? I dunno but I avoid large feathers open to the crown on general principles.

Have an SI2 since 09 and a preloved I1 with feather that now belongs to my sister. The previous owner bought it in 08 I think, both worn daily and is still ok and the same so I don't worry about feathers. As the experts say, if it survived cutting and polishing, it's probably going to survive daily wear.

thanks for voting replying. Seems this is not the issue it was before anymore.

Just read above just now about the water freezing in a large feather :errrr: scary
