My DIL said she just tested the baby with a antigen fast test. He was negative. She will test him again tonight and tomorrow. I don’t know if she is feeling me out about coming on Friday. He was with the positive child in his class on Friday. If he continues to test negative for one week..is that safe? I’m not comfortable but I’m wondering if I’m overreacting. He could still test positive up to two weeks after exposure, right? It would be only one week at that point..I hate to ruin everyone’s Christmas if I’m overreacting.

I think the CDC says to test 5-7 days after exposure. I'd have to double check that on their website.

yes, it says 5-7 days after
ive desided to probably not risk going into the mall for the sake of $2 tinsel

My mom’s nursing home has three new cases. It’s enter at your own risk. Now what do I do about picking her up for Christmas..I have to go inside to get her..ugh
Mask and shield?
I masked and shielded during the Delta surge! I looked like I was in an apocalypse but I survived several grocery trips!!!
@MamaBee, I couldn’t agree more with @mellowyellowgirl said. It’s one day. Is it worth the risk if one of your family members got sick?
I called and told my family today we were staying home this Christmas. My mom is upset with me for not attending. I feel terrible because my mom and stepfather aren’t in good health. Thankfully my brother and SIL are understanding. Three of the people are over 80, and a few people are unvaccinated who are attending. It scares the heck out of me that my parents are choosing to attend.
@MamaBee want another laugh?
Remember what we wore at my husband’s mom’s funeral in July 2020?
They had *just* lifted restrictions for funerals. I couldn’t believe his brothers were ok to fly their entire family out here to have a funeral vs delaying it.
Anyway this is what we wore. So yeah wear full gear. Everyone else was barely wearing their masks properly. Before injections. Doing what you can to remain safe is worth it.
For you. Hope it makes you laugh. And decide to wear full gear.

Yup. I still have face shields, and am Not afraid to use them!
@MamaBee San you bypass the lift and get to her?
Like can they meet you at reception with your mum? And then you can sneak in masked and shielded!
It's funny because when I'm out and about (which I still go out) and eating in a restaurant I look perfectly civilized in my nice dresses and jewellery.
But put me in lockdown and I'm absolutely feral!!!! I show up at the grocery store masked and shielded in pyjama pants!!!
@MamaBee, I was going to suggest what @mellowyellowgirl suggested. I would ask them to please bring your mom to the entrance and you could pick her up there.
I’m trying to wrap my head around people working at a nursing home and not wearing their masks properly. What is wrong with people?
I have 8!!!! I knew this crap virus was going to continue to haunt us so I bought a bunch of them!!!
i have 3
two i paid for and one they threw in becaue the packaging was creased
all as yet unwarm
@MamaBee what is the nursing home doing to make sure your mum stays safe ?
Closed the stairs? Isn’t that a fire hazard? Yikes.
We generally don’t have plans but my husband decided to buy concert tickets for Les Cowboy Fringants in Montreal some months ago. Thankfully he decided to sell them and we don’t have to fly to Montreal in December. That man, almost 20 years of marriage and he still thinks it’s okay to plan trips to Canada in the winter. Ugh.
So it’ll just be us 4 for Christmas, no gifts, no presents, just board games and cooking and walks.
Unfortunately I had to go into the office last Monday and Tuesday and the subway was packed. Of course not everyone was wearing masks.
One of my coworker who was with me told me today she tested positive, so now I have to get tested too. She waited 3 hours to get her test last Thursday. Ugh, I’m afraid I’ll get covid waiting to get tested. You would think by now there’s more testing capability or access to rapid tests.
I am debating. The plan was for my (vaccinated, boosted) parents to drive down to see us. Our family is 4. 2 vaccinated, boosted adults. One toddler who just got first dose either placebo or active in the Pfizer study last week. Toddler is in preschool but her class was quarantined for most of December, and only had class on Dec 17th. They are out now and will be out through early January, so this is the longest stretch they will have without possible exposure. Our infant goes nowhere. I work in the ER, but am vigilant about PPE. Still debating. My parents are not young. They may not have many Christmases left and they missed a year+ with my daughter already. Sigh. I talked to my sister about it (also works in the ER, also COVID conscious with a young one at home) and she says she’s not worried about us infecting them.
I just spoke to my mom. She has a “bad cold.”
She says her throat is scratchy and her nose is running like a faucet. OMG
