Hi, I've been looking for a ring setting for .8 diamond I recently received for my 25 anniversary upgrade. I came across this ring which I love (I think)! It's likely a vintage or a custom setting, but if anyone's familiar with the setting, please let me know who the seller/designer is. Thank you!

Hi Jeanne61! :wavey:

It looks like it the ring in the photo may be costume jewelry, but it would be easy to make that style. Is it the design or the black rhodium finish you like(or both)? I think that it's really cool looking and is not something you see every day. =)

Brian Gavin Diamonds "Peggy" style with milgrain added would be pretty close. You can see milgrain and bead-set diamonds in his wedding bands, if you want to know how that edge treatment would work.

The ring you posted has a basket head, bead set diamonds, milgrain, and it's not a cathedral shank. I looked for a while but didn't find an exact match in any of the ready-made product lines that I checked. But I'm sure there is one. There are a lot of them with peg heads, and / or with cathedral shanks, but those won't give you the look of that ring you posted.

Hi msop04, it was originally the black rodium finish that caught my attention. Once I looked at it more closely, I noticed the pavees seem to form little flowers and thought it looked really pretty and different! ...but, I don't think I've seen many black rodium rings before, I wonder if the black rodium plating will wear off...anyone know?

TC1987 & msop04, thank you both for pointing me to the "Peggy" ring...its a bit different from the one I saw but it is SO lovely! I like the simpler rings with clean lines and these vintage inspired styles work for me; I especially like the details and delicacy of the settings. The Peggy is definitely a front-runner, but I'm gonna keep looking...if you see anymore like these, please please send them my way! So many choices but I'll have to choose one soon; we're meeting with the jeweler next Friday, ARG!

There was some black rodium antiquing on my Van Craeynest ring. I loved it. Unfortunately the jeweler who I got to re-size it thought it needed cleaning to within an inch of its life and scrubbed all of it off. During normal cleans I gave it the darkening antiquing did not wear off. It might be worth contacting Paul Emerson at Van Craeynest and show him your picture.

No problem, Jeanne61! The black rhodium is electroplated and would eventually wear off, but I imagaine it could be "re-plated" when the time comes. :))
