Has anyone moved just for weather?

Yes, a couple of times. My husband and I are recent climate refugees who moved from Knoxville, TN, to Santa Fe, NM. I'd moved to Knoxville 30 years ago, back when it actually had 4 seasons. The heat, humidity, and severe storms increased considerably over the last 10-ish years, and my husband and I wanted to go somewhere cooler and less humid, not to mention less allergenic. We also prefer the political climate of living in a blue state. Best decision we ever made. I'm also a former Chicagoan. It wasn't a conscious decision, but after the last two brutal winters of high school, I kept moving south, first to southern Illinois and then to Mississippi before heading north to East Tennessee. I have no regrets about those years in the South. Just always felt like a stranger in a strange land.

Being able to move back was a huge factor we had to consider. Where we came from, the cost of living and housing are so ridiculously high. If we left and wanted to go back, it'd be near impossible for us to buy a home there.

Yeah, I'm not sure what we would've done if we didn't have our Ohio house still. We may have ended up staying in AZ or had to move in with my parents (which would not have been ideal). I guess my scenario is a perfect example of "everything happens for a reason."
