Has anyone ever been tested in Word, Outlook and Excel? Any info would be appreciated!

Yes I have multiple times for work.

The tests are not easy. The first two times took the EXCEL test, I failed big time. You are expected to know everything and while I knew a lot, I def. did not know everything. For example, I knew how to record a macro and write a simple macro but didn''t know how to read one and identify the problem with the code

And I know a lot of formulas...but some of the ones they asked were just a big ''doy'' to me.

Word is a little easier. There are a lot mail merge questions.

I would study (assuming this is for work and you need a pass) all of the options so that you at least know where to go if a random question pops up.

Oh, no! Not what she wanted to hear!

Ditto fiery! I had to take one to graduate and it was HARD! Doing the tutorials beforehand helped a lot. So I would recommend doing any tutorials before the test if possible. Good luck!

LOL Tacori!

Thanks guys...well, I have been studying off and on for a while and am crash studying Word today and Excel tomorrow...Oulook I guess I''ll wing..

What are they like...I mean does the test program record you actually doing stuff or are they multiple choice? I''ve heard different things...
I really need to SEE the task bar and the tabs to do what I''m doing...

Thanks for the info...Yeah, it''s for a job interview... :0....I''m not even wasting my time with macros...not gonna learn them lol

The Word test is not super difficult, but the Excel and Access tests . . . just think about traveling gal''s head banging icon. Because I was a math major, I had to take a lot of computer science and computer information systems courses. OMG, I want to bang my head just thinking about it.

I had to take a bunch of those exams and apparently I''m a certified Microsoft Application specialist or something, unless it expires because I''m never taking those tests again.

LOL...apparently you''re certified! :)
I think that the MS certification tests are different...not sure....are the employment ones multiple choice or hands on?

The MS cert test I took was one for the MCAD - don''t recall the exact name of the test, but it was .NET and C#. I didn''t get the full cert - life intruded, but I am a Microsoft CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Da da dah!!!!! They steadfastly refuse to tell me what I''m a professional IN, but that''s beside the point. Anyway, the tests, at least for that cert, were multiple choice. And they are indeed difficult, filled with minute detail that you will probably never need to know, nor will you remember, in real life.

Of course the big irony here is that I''m now employed in a mostly Java shop, AND maintain some legacy apps inclassic ASP/VB6/Javascript. Life is weird. Of course the operative idea here is that I''m EMPLOYED, and in this economic climate, that''s a good thing.

I know that some of the Java certs have a written component.

I took Word and Excel tests at an agency a couple of years back and I thought they were pretty easy. I would consider myself intermediate level and I scored well on them.

LOL Oops

Well if it makes a difference, I took the advanced versions of the tests

.

I don''t remember the set up. I think there were portions where you had to perform the tests on their program so that its recorded and other portions where you could do on your own program and then give them the answer.

MS offers exams online. Have you practiced through them?

I used all of them for work, but never took tests....

Access is a PITA. I hate it...but I see the usefulness of it. Good Concept....Dumb result.
