Has anyone ever done a cushion center stone in a round halo?

I am seeking thoughts on rounding the look of an old mine cut/antique cushion with a round or round-ish halo (or surrounding stones in something that resembles a halo). Has anyone ever done this, that you know of? Or is there some solitaire design you could point me to that rounds the look of a squarish stone?

Hmmm I was going to answer this and just realize you want a square stone to look more round instead of a round to look more square ( which is more common) so yeah I think that's a first for me so I am posting just to bump this up for you in case someone has seen or knows of this :loopy: ;))

So this is the only halo I've ever seen that's close to your idea....but its a princess

These are rounds, but I feel like if you did the opposite of these outlines, it might achieve your goal. Just instead of the oval outline or cushion outline in these designs, have them round?

Thanks, Diamondnut and Niel. I drew something (and I can't draw) before I saw these responses, and it was similar to the bottom ring.

I think that, with varying melee sizes, the same thing could be done to each side to make it a circle rather than an oval or cushion.

Yeah super similar to the last one.

I would think an airline halo might be your best bet here. That way the actual halo can be rounded and you can just use the empty space between the bezel and the halo to kind of even things out.

After thinking about it a bit, I thought about how Tacori makes a round into a cushion where the melee in the corners are slightly bigger than the rest and you can just make the opposite of that where the melee in the corners are smaller and the melees gradually get bigger towards the middle of each halo section. I tried to sketch something( and I soooo suck at drawing/sketching) but the melees turned out ovals instead but I hope it makes sense

Yes, something like that could totally work!

Cool, Diamondbug! And to OP, I love this idea. I've always loved tihe opposite of round wth cushion halo. Can't wait to see the result.

Hi! I am just curious why you wouldn't want to accentuate the cushion shape especially since you already have a round diamond.

I love the inner facets of the cushion, but I just don't love the outer profile. I had an emerald cut for my original engagement ring, and the round was my 10-year upgrade. I love round. I like oval, too, though. I've seen some single stone cluster/halo rings that can make a square look oval, but they tend to have a lot of space between the inner and outer stones. Just brainstorming before reaching out to any designers.
