It''s not the novo - I saw it on Friday in their Century City store. It''s kinda like the lucida but a skinnier band. I checked the website and it''s not up there yet...

Ooh, really!??! Was the cut of the diamond a Lucida, from what you could tell? Or something new?

It looked like something completely new - maybe even a novo with a regular band (not pave). They were just about to close when I saw it - I''m goin to check it out again 2morrow!

Is it possible it was their newish princess cut ering?

Yup that was it! I guess they didn''t carry many princess cuts in the past b/c of the high probablity of chipping the corners...

Oh gosh!!! Let''s not scare people with princesses.

There is only a greater likelihood depending on girdle thickness, inclusions, setting...

Does anyone have a picture? I''d love to see it!

It''s just a plain shank with a princess. Not too exciting IMO. It''s been out a year already so I would think there would be pictures out there somewhere...I''ll see if I can find some.

That''s what the Tiffany''s salesman told me - so it''s not true??? He told me that all diamonds can chip and you have to be VERY careful, especially w/ princesses...he kinda scared me a bit ;)

All diamonds can chip and yes princesses are relatively easier to chip because of the corners, but realistically it isn''t a huge issue. It''s still a very small percent of stones that get chipped when setting.

You do have to be more careful with the corners of princesses because they would be more prone to chipping than say a round if all things were equal. It really depends, though. Certain factors like a very thin girdle or a large feather on the corner could pose a durability risk, but I think that if the stone has been properly evaluated by an expert and set to protect the corners there should be no reason to worry excessively. And there's always insurance if something does happen!
