Hi,

I''m looking to buy a loose diamond for a solitaire diamond necklace. The one I''m looking at on B2C Jewels is GIA: Excellent cut, I color, VS2 clarity, 0.9 carats. B2C Jewels'' prices seem to be a little better than Blue Nile''s. Has anyone bought from them before? Are they trustworthy? What has been your experience? Also, how would I check to see if the serial number engraved on the diamond matched the number on the certificate?

Thanks for you help!

hard to comment w/o more information. can you post the GIA report?

Hi Luminous, and welcome.

A couple things. As DF pointed out, we would need some more information. Can you give us the numbers from the certificate or ask the jeweler for them? In particular, the table size, the total depth, and the crown and pavillion angles. It would also be nice to know what the comments are regarding the girdle.

As to B2C, I personally have not heard of them. But if anyone has had an experience with them you can do a search for "B2C" at the top right of your screen. If you don't find anything about them, then no... it's likely PSer's haven't purchased from them and we wouldn't be able to tell you much about them. If you want to work with them you can always just go a google search on "B2C reviews" or experiences. You can also look them up on BBB or check with their state's attorney general's office to see if there are any comments they have to offer.

If you aren't comfortable working with B2C for some reason, and would prefer to work with a different vendor, like BN. Here's what I'd do. First see if the stone is worth pursueing. If you can get the certificate number, I believe you can just look the certificate up on the GIA site (other's will know more about this as I'm foggy this morning). And some vendors will do price matching on stones that are in virtual inventory. IF B2C is a drop shipper like BN it is likely that the stone isn't actually theirs right now, so most any jeweler could call it in for you, including BN. Whether or not price matching is something the vendor would do is, obviously up to them. But it has happened before.

Also, if your stone doesn't work out in terms of the numbers... we'd be happy to help you find another that fits your budget and criteria if you'd like to let us know what they are. Plus what setting you would want and if your price includes the setting, or not.
