Niwaka just opened its new store on Fifth Ave. in N.Y. this month. Has anyone had a chance to visit yet? Are there any new Niwaka rings out there? Pics would be greatly appreciated!

Yes! I went jsut yesterday. It''s a very cute store right next to rockafellar center. The sales people were very nice and the rings were very pretty. I had been waiting for months for them to open their new store and it was so exciting to go.

The one that I had been eyeing for months turned out to not be exactly what I had though but I found two others that I am seriously considering. And one that is going to be discontinued but they are going to see if they can fly in any left over stock from Japan! My FI has decided he is definitily getting his ring from there as those are the ONLY ones he''s seen so far that he loves.

I dont'' know if there are any "new" rings since I dont'' know what their old collection had, but I dont'' think it''s changed much since March when I first spotted their rings. I dont'' have any pics cause I wasn''t sure if we were allowed to take any but the store is well worth visiting! Lots of selection!

April, I love those rings! Please tell us which ones you are considering and what was different about the one you thought you liked? Pleeeease?

Thanks,

a

Angeline - I had my eye on "Afresh" (if you go to the website you can look under wedding bands and scroll through until you find the right ring - I can''t link to individual ring pics) but I was thinking it was thinner and "Even" around the edges. But in real life it a tad thicker (it''s relaly not THAT thick but thicker than what I had been expecting) and it also is slightly wavy. Or it gives the illusion of being wavy. In the end it just didn''t give me the look I thought it would with my ering (which is a vatche pave royal crown - jsut for reference)

I ended up liking their "Shimmer" (which had been a second of choice of mind from the beginning) and their "Sojo" rings. There is a third that seems very promising whcih is the "Prism" ring but that is the one that is suppose to be discontinued! The sales lady said she was going to check their Japan stock to see if they can bring one over for me to look at.

They are beautiful rings! It''s definitly worth going to take a look at!!

Being bored I decided to go get the pics of the ones I liked off the Niwaka website

This is "Afresh" the one I had originally wanted. The picture still makes me want it. Unfortunatly it was a tad thicker and heavier than what I wanted. And it didn''t really look nice with the ering. (maybe a future christmas/birthday/anniversary gift?!?! hehe)

Here are the two I am considering. The soju looks like there would be a gap but actually the little dip is the perfect size where the diamond covers any gap between the two rings. so it actually looks like it was made to go together! The only problem I have with it is that it''s a tad bit thinner than my ering. But it''s a really adorable ring and I actually love it quite a lot on it''s own.

However, I would ask them to make the diamonds ont he side drop down to match the pave on my ering and I think then the difference in width won''t bother me anymore. :D

I love the shimmer! I love the fact that the diamonds go across the ring (like the afresh did) but the problem with this one is that it''s a "flat" look where as mine is rounded pave. so I''m noto sure if the two rings look strange together...FI says that he likes both rings a lot. And since he wants to get a ring from here for sure I kinda feel like I want one from here as well so that even if we don''t get a pre defined set, it''s still rings from the same store. Is that weird reasoning??

And here is the last one I''m considering - the one they are going to try to bring in from Japan. I was thinking that its a simliar shape to the Soju but looks thicker and would solve my "the soju is a just a little bit too thin" dilemma.

Also has more bling.

Ok sorry, I''ll stop posting now!

Does anyone understand the prices on the Niwaka website? At first, I thought the engagement ring prices were for setting alone, since they list a range of center diamond sizes, and $2000 seemed within the realm of reason for a designer platinum setting. But then I got to the larger stones at the end of the slideshow, where the price reads something like 0.90 ct-1.10 ct $10,500. Ten grand has to include a center diamond, but how can they provide prices for a range of sizes and no clarity or color information? I can only assume the price is intended as a ballpark estimate?
