Does anyone have photos of the Harry Winston RB classic solitaire or the Cartier 1895 RB solitaire?

I love both settings and am having trouble deciding. I tried on the Cartier but haven't tried on the HW yet. They're so similar and I really loved the Cartier. But I loooooove the double prongs on the HW because they look so delicate. :appl: Also, is it just me, or is the shank on the HW a little wider?

Anyone else out there looking at these two settings? Which one did you choose and why?

I only have these images... they only show one angle, but you can go to each vendor's website to see more. :))

They are similar, but I like the double claw prongs on the HW setting a little more for a larger stone. The Cartier would look best on a smaller stone, IMO... but it really comes down to personal preference.

Do you know the spread on your diamond? Which look are you more drawn to?

I agree the HW would look better on a larger diamond. The one have is a 1.71 J VVS2 (dimensions are 7.59 - 7.63 x 4.77 mm). Does that count as a "larger stone"?

Here is a picture of a 2ct in the Cartier on my hand (from when I tried it on at the store):

I'm pretty sure I'm more drawn to the HW because the double prongs make it unique and delicate. I also think I like the rounded shape of the shank more, but it's hard to tell from photos. Also, my husband likes the HW more. (This is an anniversary upgrade, so yes I already have a husband.)

Another thing I'm concerned about is how it looks with my wedding band. The band is my grandmother's so I don't want to replace it, but I do plan to have the platinum refurbished when I get the e-ring so they age together. But see the gap between the rings in the photo? Do you think it looks like they don't go well together? Any suggestions on how to make them look better together?

Yes, I believe your stone would look great in the HW. The Cartier is nice, but it's just kinda "blah" to me... the HW looks more refined to my eye. Regarding the gap... I personally love a gap in between the ering and wband, because you can see both rings separately and not just a big clump of metal or diamonds.

I like the HW design better, and I think I showed you or someone else that Victor Canera makes gorgeous double claw settings and could easily make this design.

Ok guys, I've decided I like the HW design better, but now I'm in a bind. I went to the HW store to try on the ring and take some pictures yesterday, and apparently they have a new policy of no photos! :angryfire:

I want to have a HW replica made, but the jeweler needs pictures. Does anyone have photos of the HW solitaire from various angles? The only ones I can find are from the top.

Four double claw prong settings are not that uncommon. Just look up other designers who make these settings and go to your jeweler and tell them you want something that looks like ...

Leon Mege's website has tons of rings that have four double claw prong settings. Victor Canera has made and can make many of his designs with four double prongs, and probably Steven Kirsh can too. Whiteflash and Brian Gavin Diamonds have some on their website that are already made with that design. They also custom make settings. This is just to name a few more popular vendors.

Just a reminder. Since you are having this custom made, you are not required to stick to the exact HW side view. You can add, change, tweak anything about it to make it your own. Just a thought...

LLJsmom, you're right, of course, that I don't have to stick to the HW exact dimensions. But when I tried it on in the store, I just loved the whole look of the ring, and how it went with my wedding band. Since I fell in love with that particular ring, I really want to get as close as possible to it.

For example, look at the top down view of aquanaut's four double claw prong from Leon Mege. It's gorgeous. You can decide if you like the side view.

Look at Victor's double claw four prong solitaire. This is so beautiful.

Just keep looking until you find something similar, take it to the jeweler and tweak it as needed. If you're set on that look, and there are no pics, just keep searching till you find close enough and make your own changes.

It's actually not really different from designing your own ring since you don't have an exact picture to show the jeweler. I discovered that is what I had to do when I could not find an existing picture of exactly what I wanted.
