Does HW sell diamond solitaires that are SI quality? Also, how does the consistency of their cut quality stack up compared to Tiffany and Cartier? If anyone would rank the quality of the following retailers, I would love to hear your thoughts and why you rank the way you do. ALSO, do the top 4 diamond retailers tend to buy from the same diamond dealers as those selling to WF, GOG, and others? I''m researching for a friend. Thanks!

Here is the list:

Cartier
Tiffany
Harry Winston
Graff

Hi there! If I remember correctly, HW only carries D-F, VS2, 1ct and above. Not too sure about the other questions. Hopefully the super knowledgeable PSer''s can answer that for you. As for ranking, it has to do with brand perception for me.

HW/Graff about the same
Cartier
Tiffany

Cut: Personally, the main thing for me was to have AGS0. Someone on another board explains it well. "GIA''s cut grade is wider then what AGS would consider "Ideal". Also AGS will not give an Ideal grade to anything that does not have ideal symmetry and polish while GIA would. You can find great diamonds graded both by GIA and AGS in their excellent/ideal grades, but in the end you should always compare them side by side to see which one catches your eye the most."

Most of these, if not all, are graded by GIA. Just something to consider if AGS0 is important to your friend.

Good luck!

Just wanted to offer a quick clarification there, excellent is GIA's highest cut grade, also for polish and symmetry, GIA does not use the term Ideal.

Thanks for the info. Is there any way to find out if a particular diamond ring you are considering from HW meets AGS ideal standards? ie is the an equation that you can plug in as you can with the HCA? Thanks again
