I''ve purchased a round brilliant diamond and am in the process of picking out a setting. The setting I''m considering is a Harry Winston inspired setting (Classic HW Setting with tapered baguettes). The setting typically comes with double prongs just like the Harry Winston original. Prior to finding this setting, I have always preferred the single prong - however, I don''t mind the look of the double prong on this particular setting. The manufacturer of the setting can make a custom setting of the same design with single prongs. I wanted to see what people thought on Pricescope...

Am I better off sticking with the setting as they typically make it with the double prong? Or, should I go with the custom single prong? Is a double-prong trendy or timeless?

My main concern is making sure that the maximum amount of diamond is shown...does single prong have this advantage? I also don''t want to compromise the "look" or "style" of the setting...

Please let me know what you think - thanks!

what size is your stone? I do think the double claws look better on larger stones but I love them so i''d probably get them no matter size center I had...

1.79 center...not sure if that is considered "large" or not...

I think it''s large..i''d do the double..of course, i''d want the exact HW claw prongs or else they get too bulky or funky looking. Leon Mege comes to mind as being one of the only one''s i know of to really capture the same dainty delicate nature of them.
