I love Christmas and all the entertaining and visiting, and I'm so happy to have the kids here over the holidays.

By New Year's Eve, though, I need my quiet time. In the past, I've gone to NYE parties or hosted them. However, about 2-3 months ago, I gave the heads-up to my guy that I just want to spend NYE wearing my flannel pj's, curled up on his couch, fireplace going, with a glass of wine and cheese/crackers/fruit stuff. A couple of weeks ago, someone made a comment about us all going out to celebrate, same as last year. I decided not to do the 'smile and nod', but said we'd be spending the night at home alone. Thankfully, they understood and fully supported me, knowing that life has been very busy for the two of us and we've had less time together lately.

Currently enjoying a quiet day with my guy while my DD and son-in-law are visiting his family (so happy that his family lives in the same city!). The kids can party all night while I'm happily doing nothing and loving every minute of it! I need to recharge for the last few days of their visit.

We watch tv/dvd. The adult kids play board games in the kitchen with their significant others, and we eat all sorts of junk food if we want. New Years day we have a big dinner. This year it is turkey. It's a low key thing. I'm in bed before midnight.
