So I''m offically engaged. I got my ring this weekend and it''s beautiful!

Here''s the basic specs:

.92 G SI2 Princess Cut (totally eye clean)
Vatche X prong plat. setting
Both diamond and setting came from Whiteflash, the diamond was a Whiteflash Expert selection.

I don''t have the GIA cert in front of me, but it''s a 1A cut, about a 68% table, 70% depth.

It''s incredibly beautiful, I can''t believe how much it sparkles. I was worried about Princess cuts looking glassy or plastic, this one has none of that. It''s so neat how it sends rainbows shooting out when the sun hits it, it''s like my own little disco ball.

We were in the mall on Sunday looking at wedding bands, I was amazed how much better my diamond looked than the ones in the stores. We were in some pretty high end stores and my diamond totally outclassed anything they had. I felt smug.

I want to thank everyone on this board for all the help and good advice. I don''t know what I would''ve wound up with without all the stuff I''ve learned here, but I know it wouldn''t have been nearly as good as what I got.

Thanks also to Whiteflash who helped my fiance with the actual purchase, (I did research and pointed him to a few good sites, he found the diamond). They were very patient and understanding and helped him translate the information that I had given him into a really beautiful ring. My only regret is that I didn''t tell him about the pricescope discount, I thought he would get it automatically if he found the diamond through pricescope, but I guess he needed to ask for it. Oh Well, now I''ll know for the earrings I want for my birthday

I don''t have pictures yet, but when I do I''ll post them over on the "show me the ring" forum.

Sorry for the long post, thanks heaps to everyone.

Congratulations!!! Sounds like a beautiful ring, can't wait to see pictures!

How about the proposal story? We'd all love to hear about it if you are willing to share.
Congrats again!

I know, I know... I hate it when people post stories and descriptions without pictures. I swore I would never be that person, and here I am. Sorry.

Here's the proposal story for those who are interested:

We live in Colorado so most winter weekends we'd be skiing, but on Sat. we decided to go hiking instead, it was a beautiful warm day that seemed more suited to hiking than skiing.

We hiked up to the top of a small mountain near my house, it's a great hike that we do pretty often, only about 10 miles round trip. On top of the mountain Dave pulled out the snacks that he'd brought and we sat there talking and enjoying the view.

After a few minutes I suggested that we head down, but he said to wait, then he said that he thought he had some other snacks still in his bag from our last ski trip, so he dug around in his bag and came up with a little box, then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was very sweet, and I cried, and we were all happy, and it's a miracle I didn't fall and kill myself on the way down because I couldn't stop looking at my ring.

What a great story! I love proposals that are when you are least expecting it - like on a hike that you do often together! Something you can think about everytime you go back to that spot now. Congrats again.
