Happy New Year to all Pricescopers and their families.

How hubby and I spent New Year's eve, under a Covid curfew:IMG_5020.jpg

:lol: AHahahaaa, I looked quickly and was very impressed with your fancy Roomba, before I registered that it wasn't. I was all, "Ooh, It has wood detail and a cushion. I've never seen a fancy Roomba like that before."
Derp!:lol::doh:

Happiest of New Years to you all, wishing you all good health and an end to this bleeping pandemic!

We didn’t even stay up to see in the New Year. DIL and I have been cooking Indian food for this evening, onion bhajis, samosas, aloo gobi and chicken vindaloo. :lickout:

Down the shore??? I thought that was only a NJ or Southeastern Pennsylvania thing. Do other people say Down the Shore?

when they are Bruce Springsteen fans we do :lol-2:
i know that Missy has a house right on the NJ shore !

my mother grew up calling the beach the bay because they used to do summers in Timaru and their beach is called Caroline bay
not in NJ - just little old NZ

normally we just say the beach

Happy New Year!

Haha I never even heard the expression before my DH explained it to me. So now, being an honorary New Jerseyan I have embraced it. :) From what I understand people not from this region say "Down the Ocean"...

Happy January 2nd from down the shore!

Down on the shore, on the sunny shore!
Where the salt smell cheers the land;
Where the tide moves bright under boundless light,
And the surge on the glittering strand;
Where the children wade in the shallow pools,
Or run from the froth in play;
Where the swift little boats with milk-white wings
Are crossing the sapphire bay,
And the ship in full sail, with a fortunate gale,
Holds proudy on her way;
Where the nets are spread on the grass to dry,
And asleep, hard by, the fishermen lie,
Under the tent of the warm blue sky,
With the hushing wave on its golden floor
To sing their lullaby.

Down on the shore, on the stormy shore!
Beset by a growling sea,
Whose mad waves leap on the rocky steep
Like wolves up a traveller's tree;
Where the foam flies wide, and an angry blast
Blows the curlew off, with a screech;
Where the brown sea-wrack, torn up by the roots,
Is flung out of fishes' reach;
And the tall ship rolls on the hidden shoals,
And scatters her planks on the beach;
Where slate and straw through the village spin,
And a cottage fronts the fiercest din
With a sailor's wife sitting sad within,
Hearkening the wind and the water's roar,
Till at last her tears begin.

When does one stop saying happy New Year?
After the first week?
Second week?
February?
Real question. LOL.

sorry i just can't help myself :lol-2:
i know its a summer song
but its summer down here
from his second album back when i was one
enjoy your shore dear Missy
i just adore your photo

Sandy the fireworks are hailin' over little Eden tonight
Forcin' a light into all those stony faces left stranded on this fourth of July
Down in town the circuit's full of switchblade lovers so fast, so shiny, so sharp
As the wizards play down on Pinball Way on the boardwalk way past dark
And the boys from the casino dance
With their shirts open like Latin lovers on the shore
Chasin' all them silly New York virgins by the score
And Sandy, the aurora is risin' behind us
This pier lights our carnival life forever
Oh love me tonight for I may never see you again
Hey Sandy girl
My, my baby
Now the greasers, ah they tramp the streets
Or get busted for sleeping on the beach all night
Them boys in their high heels ah Sandy their skins are so white
And me I just got tired of hangin' in them dusty arcades
Bangin' them pleasure machines
Chasin' the factory girls underneath the boardwalk
Where they all promise to unsnap their jeans
And you know that tilt-a-whirl down on the south beach drag
I got on it last night and my shirt got caught
And they kept me spinnin' I didn't think I'd ever get off
Oh Sandy, the aurora is risin' behind us
This pier lights our carnival life on the water
Laughin' 'neath the boardwalk, ah, with the boss's daughter
I remember Sandy girl, na, na, na, na, na baby
Sandy that waitress I was seeing lost her desire for me
I spoke with her last night
She said she won't set herself on fire for me anymore
She worked that joint under the boardwalk
She was always the girl you saw boppin' down the beach with the radio
The kids say last night she was dressed like a star
In one of them cheap little seaside bars
And I saw her parked with lover boy out on the Kokomo
Did you hear the cops finally busted Madame Marie
For tellin' fortunes better than they do
For me this boardwalk life is through, babe
You ought to quit this scene too
Sandy, the aurora is rising behind us
This pier lights our carnival life forever
Oh, love me tonight and I promise I'll love you forever
Oh, I mean it, Sandy, girl
My, my, my, my, my baby
Yeah, I promise, Sandy, girl
Sha, la, la, la, la, baby

I generally try to wish a happy new year to people the first time I see them in January. As a joke, I’ve sometimes gone several months later, so I tell them that it’s the first time we’re seeing each other in this (new) year.
By June, I tend to forget, though! :D
