Hi, lovesvintage. :D

You'd really make one for me?! I'm seriously in shock right now. That's amazingly kind. But you don't have to do it for free, you know, despite leading you to Steve. I can at least give you something for your time and materials. Think about it and let me know!

Red is my favorite color as well, so I'd love a red one. :twirl: And you know what? I haven't bought anything for my red spinel yet, so that's where that ring (when it's completed next year or possibly even 2017) will go. :D I'll leave the size up to you, and it'll only need one slit, please.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

So red it is! :) The feel of that velvet is really nice besides the color. Ooooh, to hold your future red spinel ring. I am very honored!!! I would rather you tell me which size you prefer because I don't mind making either size. No, I don't feel right charging for my time and materials, but thanks for offering. Besides, this is a token of my appreciation. :) So when the box is done, I will message you at loupe troop and keep you updated here. Do you want me to monogram it too? If so, what letter, style, and color of thread? The options for thread is metallic red, silver, or gold.

Awesome! Thank you again so much. :) I've already started an inspiration folder, so the wheels are turning. haha Um, let's do 3.5cm, that way it's the same size as my other box. Okay; well I wanted to be sure to offer again. That sounds like a great plan! I prefer the sleek, plain look for boxes, so no monogram for me, please. Thank you!!

YW! :) OK, sounds great. How do you want me to line the inside lid of the box?

I am very excited for you about the spinel project too! I can't imagine your inspiration folder. It must be overflowing because you offer many ideas to others as well as posting what you love. :)

Hmmm. What are my options? How do you usually do it? Is there enough of the same fabric?

Aw, thank you. I'm still sort of in shock that I found it, to be honest. It's decently full, but a couple of them have given me a good starting point in my mind of where I'd like it to go. I try to be helpful since the community has been so helpful to me!

I used some leftover floral cream quilting fabric. Or would you rather have white cotton? I would have to check and see if I have any white satin or not and let you know later. Here is a close up pic of the cream floral fabric.

Well, I say it was meant to be, along with your other finds this year. :)

Ooo. That is pretty, but I'd probably rather have white cotton or white satin, if you have any. I tend to lean toward the "plain side" more often than not. haha

:) Thank you.

Well, I don't have any white satin after all. :( So plain white cotton or this swiss dot white cotton?

That's okay. No worries! Thanks for checking. Um. Let's stick with plain white cotton. :)

Alright. :) I believe that is all I need to know to make your box when I can get to it. Thanks!

I just hope you will like it very much you when you receive it. I am definitely improving when I make each one of mines. By the way, there is a slight adjustment made to this box (thanks to others too on the "how to" thread) so that the lid will stay on better. :)

Perfect! Again, no rush.

Oh, I'm sure I will. :D That's cool! I'm super excited about this. Thank you again!

Yw and thanks again for leading me to Steve. I really do love my red orange spess.

You're most welcome. I'm really happy love it so much! Feel free to post some pictures of it here, if you want. I wouldn't complain! ;)

Please share the How To thread, I could not find it.

Thanks for responding junebug17! :wavey:

Here are a few indoor pics...haven't made it outdoors to take any good ones yet. It is not easy to take pictures of it though with my camera phone because it is a pretty lively stone. Please post pics of your red spinel too! I would love to see more.

Thanks Junebug

I haven't forgotten about you SparkliesLuver. I actually attempted making one already, but I don't believe it is just right enough and have to try some other alterations. It was my first attempt at this size with the fabric and was kind of tricky to work with so I plan to try again this week.

I love all your pictures! Sorry I didn't post that long ago. *sigh*

haha No worries at all. Like I said before, I'm not in a hurry - I'm very honored that you're even doing this for me! :halo:

Thanks! I saw your red spinel suite in Acinom's post.   I can't wait to see that tourmaline too. You do have a knack for finding beautiful colored stones and roughs. I actually have a small red spinel (bought off of ebay) stacker that is headed my way. I kept the stone because of the color, but it has an inclusion that runs diagonally through the stone...bezel set. I had it set in 14K rose gold and worked with an Etsy seller. The project turned out longer than expected because she ran into some issues working with the rose gold. I now know that that gold is harder for jewelers to work with in that purity. When they were finished, she decided that it didn't look right stacked and redid the whole rings a little differently. I had her make two stackers for me, the spinel and a hackmanite cab too. She is even throwing in a silver twist ring as a token of apology for the delay since this all began in August. I really like her and her dedication to providing quality pieces. If it turns out well, which I do expect them to be, I plan to post in the catch all thread since they were small ring projects.

Oh, thank you. :) You could say I have a soft spot for red (in general), so when the vendor had recently received a new parcel I had to act quickly. I'm super excited and grateful about the tourmaline rough. I've always wanted to own some Newry material but never thought I'd have the chance. I cannot wait to see the faceted stone!

You know you must include pictures, right? ;) :naughty: I'd love to see the stone and the setting. I'm sorry the project took longer than expected. Had she not worked with 14K rose before? I'm anxious to see the cab too! When do you expect to receive them? I'm glad she re-did something she felt wasn't right - that says a lot. I'd rather someone take extra time than provide a not-so-great end product. But I also never have a deadline and I know some people do. I'll definitely keep an eye out for your post in that thread. :D

I told her I didn't have a deadline for the rings, which is how all of my custom projects go too. But she told me they would be done by a certain time and didn't meet her own timeline. She works in silver and gold, but does not have any listings for gold CS stackers and I asked if she would take on my request. She agreed, so probably her first attempt at making CS stackers in 14K rose gold. She is an overseas seller as I am in the US, and has even decided to expedite sending the rings to me, so it is in the mail right now. I had bought a skinny 18K yellow gold ring from her earlier this year and was happy with that purchase. Just simple bezeled rings with skinny hammered shanks.

I never took pics of the stones myself before sending them off to her but here are the vendor pics. I couldn't open the listing anymore to the spinel to get a bigger image of the stone. :(

Oh, okay. Well maybe her skill will improve now thanks to your projects. :) That was nice of her to expedite the shipping. The rings you previously bought sound lovely.

Ooooooooooooo. :lickout: Thank you for the pictures! I love the spinel and I really like the cab. The color on both look fantastic. Super exciting!

Oh, I guess I kind of worded that wrong. I had bought a skinny hammered band from her. The CS gold stacker rings I will be receiving are just simply bezeled with the skinny hammered shanks. :)

Yes, I am excited. I was just wondering if I would hear from her soon and now the rings are on their way! :)

Hackmanites are really fascinating and cool stones. I found out about them while perusing atggems.com and then found this one on ebay and liked the pale pink to darker pink tenebrescent color change. I also have another hackmanite ring in the works to be set in silver that has the more intense purple color change. I was on a tenebrescent kick after obtaining those stones and have commissioned Jeff White to cut me a tenebrescent scapolite too. So I think I have my tenebrescent phase covered...phew!

Oh, okay. I follow now. Sorry!

Excellent! Very good news. :)

Where are they on their site? I looked and didn't see them. Are there other gems with that trait? Very interesting. Admittedly, I'm intrigued. Very neat. Oh, yeah, I remember Jeff mentioning that stone, and even including it in his last drop. haha It was a good phase! ;)

He only had one on his website under gemstones-newly photographed, which is sold now. You can still see it and its description. Here is the link...about midway down the page.

As far as I know, those two and tugtupite. They all are on the softer side though, especially tugtupite (hardness of 4). Hackmanite and scapolite hardness is 5.5-6, so have to be careful how they are set and worn. Of course I want to be able to see the color change and love rings, so that is why I went that route.

ThaiGemTrader had some amazing faceted hackmanite - small but so cool! I also got several on eBay but they are all opaque. Still really fun.

Hi Lady_Disdain! :wavey: I would love to see some faceted hackmanite. Did you use any in your jewelry? Yes, my hackmanite purchases are opaque as well.

SparkliesLuver, I finally got to working on your box again, but am not entirely happy about it. For some reason I could not get the seam to line up exactly in the middle so it is off center and makes the slight bulge of the seam more noticeable. It is otherwise a functional box, just not perfect enough. I want to work on another one for you and will be trying again next week since I still have enough supplies. I will send you this one as well to do with it however you wish...it could be the travel one or something like that. As much as I love the feel and look of this velvet fabric, it is a bit of a pain to work with, but the end result is rewarding when I can finally get it done right.
