Hello ladies and gentlemen, I have been a long time lurker here on Pricescope and this is only my second time posting! Last year I had a custom ring designed over the web and it turned out terribly. So this year with renewed hope we are looking for a designer again. We have narrowed it down to two choices: Hand in Hand SF ( http://www.handinhandsf.com/index.htm ) or Engagement Rings Direct. I talked to Mark from ERD earlier and he has guaranteed me a beautiful ring. I believe that he can do it and at a great price I am just concerned with dealing over the net again. My biggest problem before was that the center stone was not as promised and I felt like they were trying to cheat me. So I am nervous about getting a center stone that I have never seen. HandinHand is local so I can see the stone, but I don't think they can match the prices of ERD. This is what I am looking for with an $8000 budget (tax, labor, design included):

1.00-1.30 ct.
H, VS1-SI1 (as long as it is ABSOLUTELY eye clean)
Platinum and pave setting

So do you think it can be done? And who would you go with.

Oh, here is the link to the setting http://store.pearlmansjewelers.com/jewelry/view/2101/1016/
I like this setting but not a split shank with diamonds on the prongs and gallery.

I can tell you from personal internet buying experience that Mark at ERD is FANTASTIC. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from him again. Just do a search for him on here and all you will see are gorgeous beautifully executed stones.

And the ring you are describing sounds eerily like a Ritani ring. GO to their website and I think you might not need to go custom. And talk to Mark about it.

I have yet to purchase from Mark but he''s always been super quick to respond to emails and very polite on the phone. I wouldn''t hesitate to purchase from him one bit. I understand being leary of the net due to prior past experience but I don''t think you''d be one bit disappointed in the ring Mark would be able to provide for you..

Mark has a great eye for diamonds and has yet to pick out a ugly one for his customers here on Pricescope. I would not hesitate to purchase from him in the future - I have not bought anything from him in the past but my dealings with him has been great.

I loved working with Mark @ ERD and would highly recommend him. I was really, really afraid of doing everything online, so I totally understand your apprehension, but Mark walked me thru every step and made everything so easy. Plus, Mark went the extra mile to help stay within the budget. If you can bring yourself to give "online" one more try I am positive Mark will provide you a wonderful, and painless, experience. Good luck!
