Do you know what is done with the waste gold and platinum?
Aoife,
I asked Mike and he said that, yup, the left over or waste pieces all go back one or two times a year to their metals supplier, to be refined back into pure metals. But of course, they buy it as pure and sell it back as scrap, so that kind of thing is a cost consideration with this process.
Whereas, for example vendors who use CAD and wax would have very little to no cast-off metals during production, I imagine.

Your ring/diamond is to die for.
What wonderful craftsmanship.
I really enjoyed watching all the steps and you have a real piece of art on your finger.

Unbelieveable-no wonder custom work isn't always the least expensive option! And it's so awesome that you got to see the process every step of the way, too! Thank you for taking the time to post all these photos with the captions!
I love your ring-it's gorgeous and so modern and unique! (Pretty sure I posted in your SMTR thread about it, but just in case I wanted to post here!)
