I have a question about halo settings (esp for for larger stones) -- they look lovely, but tend to be quite incricate and raised. Do they hold up for everyday wear??

Unless you''re very rough with your rings, then a halo should hold up just fine if it''s well-made. Most people take them off for rougher things - like cleaning with chemicals, working out, heavy lifting, etc.

ditto. i have a halo and wear it all the time. But I do take it off when at the pool, cleaning etc.

With pave you are going to lose a stone every now and then, but that''s just how it goes even if you are pretty delicate with your rings. However, halo settings are fine for every day wear. Just take them off when weight lifting, house cleaning, gardening, and swimming (like you should with any ring).

If it''s well made you shouldn''t have a problem. My first setting was not so well made and I lost 2 stones in the first 2 months. I had the setting re-made and haven''t had a single problem (5 months now). I wear my ring everyday, but I take it off when I''m at home because I''m always cleaning or messing with the animals or doing other things where I''m afraid of knocking or dirty-ing my ring. I would do this with any ring I had though, halo, solitaire, whatever...because I can be clumsy and my arms tend to sway and dangle weirdly...so I''m always afraid of knocking any jewelry on my hands or wrists etc...
