Thank you for your help - I now have a beautiful diamond that needs a setting. I love the look of halos and have been looking through the threads here on PS. Based on my budget I think I will likely go with a CAD setting - I haven't reached out to any of the recommended vendors yet.

Generally, when the setting is made, is it better to have the width of the halo be the same as the width of the shank? Or is a contrast more popular? If there is a contracts, what "flows" better - for example, is a 0.03mm contrast very noticeable? Is it better to go with a smaller contrast?
Hope this makes sense - any help will be greatly appreciated.

This is a very subjective question and you will likely get answers that contradict each other. Personally, I like the halo to be thinner than the shank.

Yes, halo thinner than the shank.

I like a thinner halo than the shank but there are plenty of PS-ers that have halo=shank width or something close to that.

I think it's more a question of what kind of look are you going for?

Well, I'd like the ring itself to be around 2 - 2.2mm, but am afraid that the same width of a halo would be too overwhelming for the center stone. I do like a more uniform look so I was thinking of going down just a bit for a halo. What type of contrast between the halo & shank detectable - is 0.03mm visually apparent or does the difference have to be larger?
Thanks again!

That is way too small to be noticed. The thickness of a sheet of paper is 0.1mm. We usually say that for the most perceptive on this board, differences start to be noticeable at 0.2mm. Most people probably can't see them until they get even larger.

oops, I meant to say 0.3mm - so will likely be noticeable. Will it "flow" you think?
