I have an antique stone that is .85 cts, and want it to look bigger! I was thinking of putting it in a halo or a three stone setting-which do you think would look best/biggest? The budget is less than $2000. Here it is now, with a 4 pointer and a baguette on each side:
I think a three stone setting would make it look like an anniversary band IMO, and a halo would be the way to go if you want to make your stone look bigger.
Popping in for one more reply. My diamond is a .76 ct. It is set in the WF halo prong. I measured the halo the other day and it was 3/8 of an inch in diameter or 9.5 ish mm. That is the equivalent of a 3 ct diamond in finger coverage. 5.94 mm versus 9.5 mm of finger coverage, you decide.
I would get the Ritani Endless Love halo or possibly something inspired by the Tiffany Legacy (check out the gorgeous sapphire ring on show me the ring forum now!)
I also like it as it is currently set. For $2000 I personally would buy an eternity band and diamond studs
With a budget of $2K I think you''ll get the most bang for the buck with a halo setting. *Definitely* more overall size impact than with a 3-stone, which would just give you more across-the-finger coverage.
Thanks for all the ideas! I''m sold on the halo, especially when i heard shay''s measurements! It won''t be for a while but I will definitely post before and after pics when I do it.
I''m so glad you''re leaning toward a halo. I think that would better showcase your wonderful antique stone, which might have gotten ''lost'' between two sides...
