Hi all!

I'm helping a friend of mine find her e-ring setting...she loves halos and she has a very limited budget (MAX 1500 but would prefer closer to 1000). She won't be going with a diamond centre stone, she likes coloured stones but I'm going to leave that out of the discussion for now.

I've been on PS enough now to know that there are a lot of subtleties to pick up on with halos. Amount of metal, angle of halos, v or u cut etc....I don't even own a halo and I'm shocked how much I know (just enough to be dangerous).

Anyway, my friend doesn't know anything about jewellery (e.g. what is a marquise, what is pave etc) so she showed me a few pictures of things she likes. The style of halo she adores, I don't know what to call it -- a peak-a-boo halo? Where the amount of metal is minimal and the melee is REALLY small. As an inspiration picture, she loves Tacori 2620 (see pic).

My question to you is, where can I find a peekaboo halo for such a limited budget? We've perused JA, BG, etsy and ebay. We've found a few things that she likes but doesn't love.

And just to be clear, she ONLY wants a halo...I've tried to steer her to bezels but she wants PAVE, PAVE, PAVE! :D And she'd much prefer pave on the shank as well...I'm a bit scared for her because she's a teacher of little kids and her hands are in constant use, I explained that her e-ring could take quite a beating, especially with pave on the shank but she wants what she wants.

Any suggestions where to go from here?

I don't think her budget is going to line up with a quality halo. You can show her Gabriel and Co. and that is about it for decent quality, lower priced halo rings.

One thing she needs to know with these type rings is that she is going to need a center stone in a size that matches the diameter that the ring comes in. Like 6mm, 6.5m, 7mm, etc.

Thanks diamondseeker, it's a very challenging budget! I forgot to check gabriel&co. their selection is extensive so hopefully something will appeal to her.

I'm not familiar with custom work, do you think with her budget that custom work is out of the question? Maybe IDJ or similar?

She absolutely can't go custom with that budget. Her best bet is something like Gabriel that has a known outcome.
