Hi - I'm thinking about purchasing an L August Vintage Cushion and putting it into a rose gold Tacori 2620 - the only thing stopping me is concern over whether the halo melee would be too much of a contrast with the AVC and making it look very yellow. I would do it in white metal in a heart beat - but white metal is just not for me! If anyone has an opinion, I'd love to hear it.

There will be a contrast but I think it will look good. I owned an M AVC fo a while and the cut makes the stone look completely colorless in some lighting -- like outdoors on a bright day or overcast day -- so in that case the melee will not matter. And in other lighting it looked very tinted, like ginger ale, and then the contrast would also be cool!

If you do not want a tinted stone then don't get an L :))

I had an L color 1ct AVC and it never looked yellow, even next to my Tacori setting F-G melee. It did look a little creamy or warm in most lighting, but I think the rose gold will suit it perfectly and it will be stunning!

However, like Dreamer said, if you want a colorless diamond it will likely disappoint you (not the cut, just the color)!

ETA: Here is a rather horrible picture of my AVC superimposed on my tacori setting... I think it's pretty accurate in terms of color variance representation

I think ur will look stunning! I like the warm chunky facets and contrast- but of you want it all to match and look white- I don't k ow if I would get an L but maybe a smaller H or I colored stone...

The other route may be to see if Tacori can source warmer melee for you. I don't know if they do this, but if you truly love the stone and that's your only concern, it's worth asking the question.

I would love the contrast. I wouldn't try to match the setting stones to the center stone since they are so tiny anyway.

This will not solve the issue in my opinion and experience :)) Small diamonds do not show body color, it is their optics that result in the contrast because they tend to look "white" all the time.

I asked about lower colored melee and Tacori in a local shop a few weeks ago and was told they don't do it. However, the sales lady didn't seem particularly knowledgeable or experienced, so she could have been wrong.

The Tacori rose gold was a beautiful color, by the way. I should've taken it by the window to look at it in different lighting, but under the jewelry store lighting it was really bright, yet soft. I loved it. I think it would look great next to a warm stone, but I understand your concern about the melee pushing your stone yellower.

I agree with the others and think that it will be gorgeous! I just recently read the thread when DD owned her M AVC and it was really interesting to see it in different lighting conditions and I would never have thought to call the stone yellow. I believe that was a concern that she had pre purchase and was pleasantly surprised when she recieved the stone. I can't wait to see how it all comes together!

So are you saying that even if you had M colored melee, they would look whiter than an M colored ering stone (i.e. a larger stone)? Your comment jogged my memory. When Ari and I were working on my ring and I was concerned about G/H colored melee against my E colored stone, he said it would not be an issue. I wonder what it is about the optics of melee that makes color somewhat irrelevant??

I have an O/P OMB in a halo, and to my eyes it doesn't look yellow compared to the white melee, just different. The way it reflects light is completely different to the way the melee reflects light, so my eyes don't focus on colour so much as the different in sparkle. I also have a halo of pink diamonds immediately surrounding the diamond, and then a second halo of white diamonds, so that may also impact on how my eyes view the difference in colour/sparkle between the stones.

I agree with Dreamer that lower coloured melee isn't going to make much of a difference, simply because of the way it reflects light. They're too small to have noticeable body colour compared with the centre stone.
