I just got my Parents magazine and they had a bunch of ideas for costumes and treats...

When my kids were little, around that age, one was a pumpkin (a custume from Old Navy) and the other was Bob the Builder. Another year, one of my kids was a spider. .. another costume purchased at Old Navy.

Now, this year, my kindergartener wants to be a vampire and my 2nd grader is going to be a ninja. Luckily he was a ninja last year and he fits into the same costume!

ETA: here are Old Navy customes:

*** the great thing about those ones are many of them are thick and warm so you child won't require a coat if you live in a cold region.

I forgot to mention, if you have goodwill stores (or the like) you can find GREAT deals on costumes. I''ve come across a few in the under $10 range that are the really thick and warm ones.

What about making haystacks for your halloween snack? They aren''t "halloween" per say, but they ARE fall/autumn and a lot of people use hay as props with halloween. Another idea would be pumpkin cookies! You can get a pumpkin shaped cookie cutter, with sugar cookies and do orange icing!

As to costumes.... he could be a mummy, a super hero, a cowboy, a ninja, for some reason (dunno if you could find a costume) a caterpillar keeps popping into my head, how old is he?

I bought my daughter''s costume from buycostumes. They have a huge selection & I like that customers can review items. I''m not creative with food so I checked parenting.com & they have a bunch of ideas.

thanks all
