My fiance and I have been looking over all the rings in Show Me the Ring (wow!) and we really like the look of the half bezels - I''m rough with jewelry and need something that won''t catch. However, we don''t want to spend too much on the ring (want to save for a house), so we''ve decided we''ll be looking for a stone between .35 to .40 c. So far the only half-bezel setting I''ve found that actually specified that it was for a 1/2 carat stone (closest I could find) was on Scott Kay''s site, but I couldn''t see it too well... Will a stone that size still look alright in a half-bezel design?

Sure, it will look big enough. I would suggest H SI2 or SI1 if you have very good eye sight.

But if you are rough with it - be sure the setting has the bezel on the left right side (EW)- not the front back(NS) or ends.

Most damage to diamonds is done to the adjacent finger sides of diamonds because that is the way we tend to move our hands most frequently.

yep
1/2 bezel looks good even down to melee size
.20 and under.
So does a full bezel.
