Here''s a dumb question: has anyone noticed that their fingers start to grow more hair after they acquire a ring or two? The reason I ask is because I swear that my fingers have gotten hairer ever since I received my birthday ring from my bf and the RHR I order from Overstock.com a few months back. Could it be because I keep staring at my hands, and as a result, notice all the hairs there that I never took notice of before? Or is it because I''m getting hairier because I''m getting older? I''m hoping it''s the former option. I don''t want to have to start waxing my fingers......

YES! My ring finger seems to have more hair than my other fingers. I''ve commented on this to my husband. I think it''s due to the stimulation of hair folllicles when putting the ring on, and taking it off. It''s just like people who swear by frequent hair washing/brushing to increase hair growth (on the head I mean).

It''s so funny that you should post this, we just had the conversation last week. Thankfully, I''m pretty hairless on my fingers, so the additional 2-5 light hairs on my ring finger doesn''t bother me too much. No one would notice unless I stuck my finger in their face.....but I know that it''s a major pet-peeve of PSer''s......make sure you don''t have hairy fingers/knuckles when you pose for that close-up hand shot, or else you''ll never hear the end of it!

haha I don''t know that I have gotten hairier fingers since getting rings, but I do notice my hand hairs more than before, I think because I do stare at them more AND it''s hard not to notice them when you are taking big ole macro shots of your hands and rings!!

You know the answer? Get a bigger diamond. Bigger bling covers a larger area!

Platinum hair on my hands and arms and not much of it, so no "hair" problem. I have to warn you youngsters, though, that with age come WRINKLES!!!! I would love to have "young" hands again!!!

Deb ;-)

Could be the lack of sunlight (now that your finger is covered by a ring) which would normally lighten the hair that has always been there. Now that your finger is covered, you see the natural color of the hair?

Well, as long as your arms don''t get really long and your knuckles don''t drag on the ground, I think you''re probably okay.

Cinderella you may be onto something; think of all the bazillions of dollars spent on hair-growth products in this country. You could market a head-sized platinum band that can be slipped on & off to "stimulate the follicles"......[$$)][$$)]

LOL!!!! Minimouse, that is the perfect solution!

I think we may just be looking at our hands more and seeing things that may have always been there and we never noticed before??!

I know that these ultra-macro-super-duper-magnified close-ups that we take of our rings sure shows up every hair, mark, line and blemish on the fingers/hands! OY!

Ewwww - you have hair on your fingers? GROSS!! What are you, a monkey?? I''m only kidding!! who doesn''t have hairs on their fingers?

My fiance and I picked up my engagement ring after work one night and when we got home, I waxed my fingers so that I didn''t have to show off my hairy digits the next day when I showed the ring!! My fiance thought I was weird. I had to explain that this was a ''girl thing''.

The good thing is, being Asian, we''re not very hairy.

I have to confess that when I posted pics of my rings several photos were rejected due to the "hairy factor"...

Nair em.

I have a few blonde hairs and they bother me!

I took photos of my ring, rejected them, waxed my fingers and retook the shots.

The only problem with the waxing though was the ''whitish'' spots on my fingers from where I''d waxed!! I don''t bother waxing them now - I prefer the hairs rather than the white spots.

And lmurden - i''m sorry if i offended you with the monkey remark. I was only kidding. hence the comment about ''who doesn''t have hairs on their fingers?''

Well, I''m not afraid to admit that I have hair on my fingers

And it''s not blond! But I certainly am not going to wax/Nair/bleach them...I mean, don''t women already have enough areas that society says should be smooth and hairless??

I know - the thing we women do for perceived beauty! The thing is, it''s not just us women but men too now (the back, crack and sack!)

I must admit though, I do like a well toned man with a waxed chest. Some of my friends prefer hairy chests. To each their own.

the back, crack and sack!
Okay I laughed a little tooooo hard at that one. I''ve never heard it put like that before - but those are the important ones

it''s a phrase used all the time in Australia (by the way, to prounounce Australia like a real Aussie - say ''Straya'' - no A at the beginning and no L near the end)

I thought the b,c&s phrase was universal.

It is not the ring. What has happened is that your overies have compressed into a solid cyst resembling male gonads. Because of their apperance it has made your glands think that you have mutated into a man and are now secreting testosterone. You will find more hair growing on your fingers, nose and ears. At the same your eyebrows will unite and hair will start falling out of your scalp by the handfuls.

Now Hammer, you goofed there! You could have said " it IS the ring and it has made your ovaries mutate into solid cysts resembling male gonads........" in other words GIVE THE RING TO ME AND THE HAIR WILL GO. Easy cure!

I have seen a guy on TV HAVING IT DONE

He was hollering his head off, understandably. I felt sorry for the beautician

A waxed chest is one thing, however that is going a bit too far IMO.

You are right. I was so excited by the subject matter of this thread, I just rushed through the symptoms, knowing Cinderfella''s urgency for an answer. So Cindie, take the ring OFF and send it to Lorelei. The sooner the better, and you will once again revert to your hairless, baby soft self you once were. Have a nice day.

I thought that must have been the case Hammer, Cindie is VERY WELCOME to send her ring to me, I will put up with hairy fingers gladly on her behalf

I must say, Hammer, that I was contemplating just that solution. But, sadly for Lorelei, I decided that I would rather have hairy fingers with pretty rings than hairy fingers without.
