My trial is tomorrow night, and though I have some general ideas of what I''d like and a few pictures to take with me, I''d love to have some more opinions on what would look good on me. So, PLEASE suggest away! Hair rules: I want an updo, and I want to wear a very sheer mantilla shaped veil on top of my hair at the crown of my head (it doesn''t have lace, just crystal beading). Makeup rules: Dark lips almost ALWAYS look silly on me. Just sayin...

these) has a bajillion photos of my face and dress for reference.

Thanks!!

Here''s a collage of hairstyles I''ve collected that I like for one reason or another. I don''t think any of them is perfect for me, but you get a feel for my taste. I''m not into "prom" curls, that''s for sure.

I saw the pics of you in your dress - stunning! you are going to be a beautiful bride in that gown and the new choice in earrings. I also really like the updos you selected - very classic and pretty.

The only advice i would have is that if all your hair is going up, i would most likely part the hair on the side and have a nice sweeping look down across the forehead. Sometimes having the hair all straight off the face can be a bit severe, IMO. A sideswept look can soften it and make it look more romantic. i also like a little height on the back/crown of the head - and i think sparkly pins are always a must! The backs of all the updos are lovely, but i tend to prefer the more deconstructed (dare i say messier?) look of some of them to the more structured french twist.

you''ll be lovely, whatever you choose - post pics when you get em!

Violet, you just channeled EXACTLY what I''ve been thinking. I love the classic look of a french twist, but when they''re pulled tight and perfectly smooth I just find them too severe looking. I''m going to ask my hairdresser to play w/ the front tomorrow to see what suits me best. I find sometimes when I try to do sweeping bangs or similar that it makes my face look too round or something. If I nix the forehead sweep, I''m definitely thinking a bit of a part to the side w/ plenty of volume to try and keep it soft. Maybe something like Alyson Hannigan''s hair in the collage (far right, redhead w/ veil - the photo is from American Wedding). Actually, I loved her wedding hair in that movie and forgot to include the back in the collage. Here''s one of JUST hers that I made a while back.

Oooh, thanks for the links, Sarah! I really like the colors in that 3rd one, and I think I like the last one best overall. It has a great balanced look, I think, that doesn''t shy way from the makeup but doesn''t put it center stage, either.

Here''s a makeup look I grabbed from a recent Bridal Guide. As is I think it might be a wee bit too peachy for me, but that''s easily adjusted.

I agree, and I LOVE that updo! Gorgeous!

It''s so neat to see everything coming together with your hair, make-up, dress, and jewelry!!

I am late in the game here, and i am sure you already went for your trial - can''t wait to see! I had to go away from my computer and didn''t get to see these pics til now - i really like that look from american wedding - so pretty and romantic looking! I do like the front of that ''do with the softened wave - and the back is soooo pretty with the twists and swirls. love it! Another front that i think would look particularly lovely is this....

Crap. sorry - this is great and very pretty , but daring as it really puts your whole face out there. However, you have huge lovely eyes and this front of the hairstyle with a eyemakeup to bring out your eyes would be amazing.

Oh, I love Kate Beckinsale's hair in this photo! She always has the best hair. That reminds me of another "celeb" event she was at I loved her hair then too. It was another updo but it wasn't "prom hair" at all. Hmmm, I can't remember what event that was.......

and here''s another style i like, just in case you haven''t gone yet

Think about just the front though, i like the soft sweep of bang with the back part like that from american wedding. Can''t wait to see what you come up with!

I''ll say. Im going to have to think about that event because I even think I saw it in a magazine and tore it out I loved it so much. If I remember and find a photo of it, I''ll post it.

Oooh, thanks for the photos, ladies! I actually have NOT gone yet, because due to some crazy hectic scheduling issues the only time (unless I wanted to wait until July

) we could work for my trial is 8pm tonight. SO, I will be around until 7:30 or so, open for suggestions!!

Ok, looking back to the pics of you in the dress, in one photo your hair is completely off your face and in another parted to the side (where it is down). You could pull off either one, but i think i might prefer the side part, covering part of the forehead (but i am not 100% sure). i''d love to see the differences on you in photos.

As for your makeup, if it were me i had had your pretty eyes, i would go a little heavier on the eyemakeup than normal - i would want to bring the eyes out and wear a little more than normail without looking unlike yourself (b/c i think people need a little xtra sometimes for photos). Liner in a softer color than black can sometimes look a little less severe and bring out the pretty color of your eyes (are they green?).

Initially, i am thinking similar to this...with a bit of bronzer for color? i know you were looking at the more peachy tones...

This might be too much for you (not sure), but a nice thing about going a little heavier on the eyes is it actually allows you to do a lighter or just a glossy lip (not dark).

Here''s a bit less on the eyes (underneath) and gives a more rosey look - see how green her eyes look? they seem similarly colored to yours....

Thanks Violet! I love that last photo. I''ll have to check out the website. I definitely agree about the darker eye, paler lip. My eyes are green, though how dark/light they look changes a lot with the light. I almost never wear black liner or mascara, because it just makes the rest of me look washed out. Instead I tend to use brown or plum eyeliner, and dark brown mascara. I''ve been trying to find pictures of me with bangs, but it doesn''t look like I have any good ones. I''m going to ask her to play with that tonight and try to see what it looks like each way (hopefully she doesn''t mind).

Perfect - try them all!

p.s. You don''t have to cut bangs to get that look - just pulling the hair off to the side and pinning will do. If you won''t like having bangs, don''t cut them - they can be a real pain (i have them

). good luck!
