No, but I barely passed. My FIL failed his first test, but passed on his second try.

I failed the driving part the first time; I was 15 years old and soooooo nervous :errrr:
the second time I passed. :D

When I moved to Seattle, I had to re-take the written test in order to get a WA state license. I got the book and read it and passed the first time. I knew so many people that failed because they didn't refresh and read the book after so many years.

When I moved to Georgia..... well, things are a bit more lax here. I paid my $20 and walked away with a GA license. I don't think they require retesting at any point! Scary!

I haven't had to do a renewal test- and I passed the first time around :)

as far as I know there aren't any renewal tests in NY, although their should be, written and driven IMO

DOH!!! No I haven't failed the renewal! hahaha

Nope.
Aren't renewals tests only for those who got into more than X amount of incidents, or reach a certain age where their driving might be impaired? Which one was it for you DF?

yes, especially for women cuz they drive so wild...

I've never had to retake the test since I got my license at 16.

I've never had to retake anything, and I passed them both the first time around.

No, I never have but I was at the DMV when they were trying to tell a 90+ year old women that she had failed. It was sad
but comical at the same time.

Lady: Can I have my Drives License?
DMV: I'm sorry mam but you failed your driving test. You need to go home and practice.
Lady: Practice for what?
DMV: To take your driving test again.
Lady: But where's my Drivers License?
DMV: You cant have it until you pass your driving test.
Lady: But I took the driving test.
DMV: Yes, but you didnt pass.
Lady: Pass what?
DMV: Your driving test. Is your husband here by any chance? Can you get him.
Lady: Yes, I'll get him.

She was so old that they couldnt get the point across that she had failed the test and she could not have her liecense.
It was sad but I was thrilled to know that I would no longer be on the same roads with the person. Luckily(?), her
husband was still able to drive.

Ditto.

However, I would recommend that anyone retaking should read the driver's manual first.

I had to take the written test again when I moved states. I believe that is pretty common. Here you HAVE to read the book. They didn't ask normal, common sense driving questions. They asked statistics and strange facts that I would have never known. I did almost fail the sign test during my last renewal. They showed me 4 blank signs (only the shape and color) and I only knew 2! The guy gave me hints so I passed.
