Hi All,

Hope you can give me some advice in my hunt for an engagement ring... Never done this before and I want to make it right the first time!

I''m considering a ring from Jewel Africa in Cape Town, South Africa. I''ve been offered the following "Ten Ten" (ten hearts and ten arrows cut):
0.74 F VS1 US $ 4193
It is polished by Rosy Blue. Cut, polish, symmetry graded excellent by IGI in Antwerp - I am just waiting for the report to be sent to me. (I understand this grading will not have much value in the US, but I''m not going to consider the re-sale value for this stone). I will not have an opportunity to see the stone before I decide, as I will be traveling through on a tight schedule.

I realize that the price is over what one would expect, but I''m willing to pay extra as as the Ten Ten has sentimental value to us from a holiday there and visit to the dealer.

So, to the questions. Does anyone know this seller, or have dealt with them before? Any comments on the cut?
What about the price: I''ve been told that it takes much longer time and more diamond is wasted in making this cut, hence the price. With this in mind, does the price seem reasonable or would there be room for bargaining?

FYI I''ve also been offered a 1.19ct F VS2 US $ 8935.

More than anything I just want to check if any alarm bells are ringing for you experts, before I go through with this.
Thanks!
John

I believe that cut is similar to a Solasfera.

OK thanks for that!

I got the report now if anyone care to comment? I can''t decipher too much from all the depths and angles myself to tell if it seems in line with the cut grading and my overall expectations.

Numbers look good to me. Just IGI is known to be softer in color and clarity grading, so those numbers might be off a bit if the stone is graded by GIA/AGS.

It has definite potential John but as it is sold as 10 h&a if this is important to you then images for both hearts and arrows would be very useful.
