How should I feel about the black lines that form the "V''s" in the following H&A photo both not lining up in some of the hearts and the black "tails" that extend into the white of some of the hearts?

Also, for the same stone, how should feel about the light leakage seen around the girdle in this image:

The "light leakage" seems pretty normal. A couple arrow heads appear not quite true to the shafts. But no biggie by any means.

The hearts pic is rather unusual tho. Maybe someone else will comment.

Many times the hearts image is poorly taken. I have asked vendors to retake the images and they look much nicer when they are not rushed to take the shot. To me those hearts look pretty darn good. I don't think you would really notice any difference and most vendors would consider that a true H&A diamond.

As for the light leakage scope, I believe that minute white you see is very normal for most traditional cuts. Only a few cutters will cut the facets around the girdles in a way to get ride of those. Searched for "tweaked" and you'll see what I mean. IMO, that's a very good image.

www.goodoldgold.com has a very good write up about reading the firescope, idealscope, and light scope imagse. Go through his tutorial about CUT.

I thought the hearts were, for the most part, fine. The red "overlay" on some of the hearts was what I was referring to. Bet a new pic would take care of that.

The pictures could be a little better, but the diamond should look like a very nice one perched on a finger.

Do you mean "why the harts picture does not overlap on the arrows picture"? They shouldn't, because the stone was moved between taking the two pictures, so the points on both do not align. Ths effect has been taken of in some types of cut reports (such as OGI) by asigning letters to facet meets, so one would know which goes on top of which - here this is not the case.

I suspect that the odd blood-red facets near the harts are due to the rather rough color definition of the photo - a good thing, in my view, since the averaging out of the color tone on each facet by reducing resolution, makes the judgement of the overall picture easier.

There are no issues with these pictures : the stone is quite "by the book" in every way. For an explanation of what the white spots near the girdle mean, you may want to run a sercah for "tweaked" on this forum. Nothing to worry about though.
