I was inspired by Sarah''s post, but didn''t want to threadjack. . . I like her idea of using a pot or vase or something for well wishes, instead of a more traditional guestbook. Anybody have any other thoughts? I''ve seen photo guestbooks and the frame mat and platter thingies for people to sign - I''m just not really into a "regular" guestbook and am wondering what other creative ideas you all have come up with?

We had people sign rocks :)
Now the rocks serve as decor in the house. they will eventually be in a tall galss vase by the console on the entryway, along with some tall branches..

We did a wedding certificate/ketubah, and in Quaker tradition (my DH was brought up quaker), had EVERYONE at the wedding sign it. It was a nice combination of our cultures since I am Jewish, so it is traditional to have a ketubah, but this one was allowed everyone to sign it. It now hangs prominently in our living room.

I don''t know if you can see it here, but at the bottom where all the blank space is were pencilled lines where everyone who attended signed (instead of just having the attendants sign it). The bookmarks are so people knew to save the top lines for our parents and siblings (which was a tip my MIL gave us).

We are continuing a family tradition of using quilt squares. My wonderful Aunt will be piecing these together, and they are left in a basket on a table with some fabric pens. After the wedding, she finished the quilt or wall hanging (we are doing the quilt), and we have a beautiful heirloom with lots of memories. Ours will be in our wedding colors (fall) and the Triple Irish Chain pattern, which ties into my FI''s Irish heritage.

Ooh thank you for posting this! I love seeing more ideas!

My friend did this too. It turned out great! I might steal this idea too because both my mom, FMIL and FGMIL (lol, that''s g-ma in law) are alllll quilters!

Loving them all - keep ''em coming!

I am using this idea. Guestbook alternative

I am going to print out a few cards and each will say something different. "Name our kids" "Draw our first home" "Advice or wishes for the couple" People can sign all or just one and I''ll leave out colorful felt tip pens. Later I will make a scrap book from it.

Thanks Lauren - I really like that idea! What are you using as your prompts?

ETA: Has anyone used these before?

I''ve been considering doing something similar to Lauren''s idea, except each guest/couple/family would fill out a page together kind of like what they have at http://www.guestbookstore.com. That''s where I got the idea from, but I''d rather design the pages myself than pay to have copies of theirs...

OMG - lady we must have been posting at the same time. . .I really like your idea - I think I''d rather do it myself, but I''m not really sure how to go about it - ideas?

Plus, the pre-made ones have a lot of space for people to fill in, and I''d rather have something a little quicker so my guests can enjoy the reception. . .

I really like the premise, but I don''t like any of their covers. I wish they had some more formal ones, maybe leather...

Well, my plan is to find a pretty ring-style photo album/binder and then print and cut/punch pages to fit it. You could customize how much your guests have to fill out by just using a smaller binder/pages. Or, maybe use cards that would fit into the slots of a photo album?

that''s what we just decided to do... 4 days before the wedding. haha!! i''m designing some 5x7 cards to fit in a regular photo album. we''ll have a table with the album, cards & pens on it so the guests can fill out the cards. it works good since we''re taking pictures after the ceremony, causing about 1 1/2 hours of space between the ceremony and reception.
