The British Royal Mint, concerned about obsolescence as the use of coins plummets, is pivoting into jewelry making!

i would really like to read that but dont want to make an account and i dont do facebook and dont know my google account -im hopeless
when you have a wee mo could you please copy and paste the article pretty please

Fascinating! It reminded me of this video by the YouTuber Cody’s Lab (he has an entire series of refining gold from various things, including circuit boards). I put a link here if that’s interesting for anyone:

Back to the jewellery - it’s a super cool idea and I love it, though I wish they had a collection with more of a coin focus; like coin shaped earrings (much smaller than a real coin). I mean I went and checked out the collection and there are some very cool things - they have a collection that uses a method that was used as an anti-counterfeiting technique (called caustics, which can essentially project an image when light is shined on it at the right angle); and one that is inspired by the ridges on the side of a coin. But the only jewellery I could find that uses a proper coin is a pendant necklace.

Still, a very cool idea! Prices are high, but if they weren’t I probably would’ve bought something :D

the silver is from old x-rays
not sure who's money the price is in, im seeing $$$

They change the currency depending on your location, because I got the price in rupees. It’s likely you’re seeing it in NZD!

Their minimalist designs really appeal to me - I’m loving the poem bracelets, tutamen stacked bracelets, and caustic tower/cross designs. They clearly have some good designers working on this project! It is fairly pricy though for someone who has no sentimental attachment to the British mint.

I’m seeing prices in USD with 10% off, BTW.

Fascinating article, @VRBeauty Thanks for this.
