It sold recently and I was curious what such a stone would go for.

GIA Specs:
2.83 carat
Clarity IF
Color Fancy Grayish Blue, of natural origin
Cut Emerald

No I didn't buy it.

I'd guess over $100K.

Gorgeous stone. The price per carat in that color and clarity is insane. 200K would be my guess....

My guess - somewhere around 250-350k.

Whoa!
That high? - even though it has that gray modifier so it's not pure blue?
Plus the color is "only" fancy, not the more expensive grades of intense, vivid or deep.

Well it''s only a guess, but here is a list of things I factored into my guess:

1. It''s a very sizeable stone for a blue diamond
2. The main body color of the stone is blue despite having the "greyish modifier), but yes it would be more if it didn''t have the modifier.
3. It is an emerald cut which is more rare and unusual (fancy colors can look less intense in this cut, as well as rounds) and usually more of a premium is associated with this cut, especially if it is very attractive.
4. Although clarity usually plays less of a role overall for fancy colors, this one is an IF which is something to brag about :)
5. Prices of blues seem to only be going up.
6. The price for these special stones is often determined by what someone will pay.

Alas, I''m only a consumer, but one that greatly admires and collects fancy colors. So, my guess is really only a guess, and from my experience I''ve seen prices across the board for stones.

I'm surprised they didn't cut it to be a radiant which can be similar to this emerald shape.
Rockdiamond recently told us this can intensify the color since it makes the light bounce around in the stone more times through the colored material than in an emerald cut.

You'd think they'd only go for emerald cut when they were sure that the rough would yield vivid or deep color as an emerald cut.
If they cut it as a radiant and got a fancy intense grade instead of only a fancy grade that would have added substantially to the price.

I am way FINE with a pear shape... This is gorgoeus...

I would think it would have sold in the 350-400K range...

Its dreamy!
