just wanted to let you all know about my VERY positive experience with purchasing a GSI stone.

I went to see the 2.01 ct princess cut, and was blown away. BUT, it was a GSI cert.....not many people are familiar with them, and I came here and asked if anyone knew of them. No one really had much experience with them....so I told my Jeweler if he sent it to GIA and it came back with the accurate specs that I would purchase it.

Well, it did! And so I now have a beauty new princess....

so.....perhaps if anyone ever runs into a GSI stone, they might consider giving it a chance too!

Kewl.........So where are the pictures?????

And who is GSI? Are they in the US? Out of curiosity, what kind of documentation did GSI provide? Just curious.

Pics are under my thread in SMTR.....titled My new Verragio...sorry I dont know how to link it

GSI is in New York....from what I;ve been told , one of GIA''s former co -owners left GIA and started his own...GSI. They are newer...been around a few years.

They provide a plot and cert....just like GIA,
they call it a FDX Report. They also have soemthing called a Virtual Vault. For $35, your diamond gets a "number" and they will store all your diamond information for life.
Benefits are:
*Lost/Stolen Jewelry Recovery Assistance - Law enforcement agencies and insurance companies stand the best change of recovering or replacing lost or stolen items if they can quickly verify ownership, characteristics and value. When you notify GSI of such an incident, we will send the report data stored in VirtualVault™ to all appropriate authorities and to you.

Free Updated GSI Reports - Every six years, you may request at no charge a new Report from GSI for the same item.

Free Updated Appraisals - Every three years, you may request at no charge an updated appraisal of the item''s value, based on current market prices*

Access Report Data - If your Grading Report is ever lost, stolen or altered, you can access the data on your original GSI report with your VirtualVault™ ID and password.

Volume Discounts - You may request other GSI services, including GSI Reports and additional VirtualVault™ accounts for your family, at cost savings.

Wow........Sounds like you got a fantastic stone and GSI sounds like they are reputable.

Good for you and congratulations!!

It appears that GSI is a subsidiary of AGS

here is the link:

http://www.agslab.com/press.html

It also appears that it is based out of LA but I could be wrong.
I found it by googling GSI on the web so . . . . if it is a different lab let me know.

Anyways hope this was helpful

Hmmm . .. . I guess they are unrelated then becuase AGS''s company they contracted is called:
Gem Services International (GSI) (or thats what was stated in the press release.)

The GSI you refered me to is called Gemological Science International (GSI) similar names but not the same additionally they GSI in New York claims that its parent company is Gem Experience, LLC

Anyways, I am sorry if I added to any of the confusion.

I know that this post originally was started a few months ago, but I also have a GSI stone that I love and I was wondering how to activate the virtual vault? I have gone on their website and I have seen the virtual vault advertised, but I do not see anywhere that I can purchase the membership
