What in the world is all of that about? Admins put us in "groups"? For what? If you're in a special group, you get more privileges? I'm not sure what that means, or why it is at all necessary....

Thoughts?

Best to email [[email protected]][email protected][/email] In the thread about troubleshooting this was brought up. They said no they weren't going to use this. But again why have it in the first place. Let me know what you find out. It IS confusing...

don't know about the rest of ya,but i will be in the high IQ group. :praise:

I'm confused. What groups?

If it's Shirts and Skins I hope I'm Shirts cuz nobody wants to see my Skins.

I don't see any groups? Where?

Clearly you are in the group that can't see the groups.

I still like you though.

I looked in my profile under groups and it said "You are not the leader of any group" - so - I'll list my groups here: the Stones, Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith.

I didn't know what everyone was talking about either, but I found it. It's under your profile, then under "manage groups".

"GroupsUsergroups enable board admins to better administer users. By default you will be placed in a specific group, this is your default group. This group defines how you may appear to other users, for example your username colouration, avatar, rank, etc. Depending on whether the administrator allows it you may be allowed to change your default group. You may also be placed in or allowed to join other groups. Some groups may give you additional permissions to view content or increase your capabilities in other areas.

You are not a leader of any group".

bahahaha - love this response!!!

Ella said that they are going to remove it soon, but I still don't even see why they would create it in the first place.... Feels like high school to me.

Aw, yay!

I looked at mine and I am not a part of any groups, either. Is anybody?

I am in the senior citizen group with DF, Grandma Linda,, Rising Sun, Kaliegh....

I'm wondering about "Friends and Foes".

ps check out the documentary IT MIGHT GET LOUD and watch the grandpa of guitar, jimmy page, do his thing....he is one with that guitar!

I'm curious why some of you think this seems to be very 'high school' (tukins, you are not the only one that has mentioned this).

This is a consumer website. I don't think the admins would have put us in any sort of controversial groups. Probably just groups related to diamonds, colored stones, or jewelry. I saw the groups as perhaps educational groups so that newbies can know who to get the most information from. Am I missing something?

Fiery, I think you are right. The groups might be vendors, prosumers, GG'S, etc.

Big DITTO!!!! Zeppelin is definitely (in my opinion) in the top 3 rock bands of all time, with J.Page ranking a huge #1 on my list of amazing guitarists!!!

I am curious about that too, especially the "foes" part.

Do your pages not show explanations? Because mine says:

"Friends enable you quick access to members you communicate with frequently. If the template has relevant support any posts made by a friend may be highlighted."

and

"Foes are users which will be ignored by default. Posts by these users will not be fully visible. Personal messages from foes are still permitted. Please note that you cannot ignore moderators or administrators."

PS2.0 is probably a 'templatized' bulletin board that they either purchased or licensed from somewhere...the old one was the same way. Basically you can add or remove items from a pool (aka removing PM option or allowing images over 100kb but under 200kb), but adding entirely NEW functionality (aka a mobile functionality for PS) might be typically difficult.

Foes,
As I take it, you can type in people you don't want to read posts from. For some this is your ignore button, so to speak. Me, I like reading all, but can see how many would find it useful.

Lilyfoot,

I don't know about private messages... That's not how I took it..

But who knows. I am out of the loop.. Not loupe!!!!

Thanks for the clarification. My issue was more with the term "foes." Maybe there is a better word that can be used?

Kaleigh, the information in quotation marks in my previous reply are copy and pasted directly from the "Friends and Foes" page, it's not my interpretation of the information. I can only go by what the page says!

In general, I am not worried about anything with PS 2.0 right now. It's very new to everybody, and the admins are going to need time to work out all of the kinks.

What else could you call it? People you don't want to 'talk' to? I like foe, and I like alliteration!
:P
