The thing bothering me the more I think about it is the possibility of them bringing George back alive, but with a different actor. His face was so mangled from the accident that they could bring him back, have Dr. Sloane perform a face transplant, and have him played by a different actor.

If they did do that though, I would be extremely disappointed. It''s one thing to kill him - it''s another thing to bring him back for a ridiculous story and ruin the character we loved.

Although maybe I just watch too many soap operas and I''ve seen too many re-casts explained by "plastic surgery."

Did anyone else hate Mer/Der''s ''wedding''? I totally pegged them for the type to go to city hall, so that would have been great, and believable. But if they don''t ever get it legally done I''ll be irritated.

Mmmhmm, as soon as they started with the vows on the post-its, I hit fast forward.

I''m with you OU... I figured it out right away who "John Doe" was... Can''t say I was surprised because I had heard rumors that he wasn''t coming back. I still think the show will be awesome, even with the changes.

I have to say, I knew who John Doe was right away, and I was like ''nooooooo!!!''
39.gif

BTW, who noticed Izzy''s ring in the dream sequence where she''s sitting on the beach with Denny?!?!

Yeah... That HUGE radiant with pear sides? It kind of looked like a Leon creation, no?

I didn''t guess who John Doe was until Mer did. It took me by surprise. Even though he hasn''t had much by way of storylines this season, I really like his character and will miss him if he doesn''t return. That last scene was intense.

Me too. DH thinks I am nuts, he hates the show, I just tell him it is a girlie show.

I''m guessing that the person who was not in the elevator is the person who died (because that person is already on ''the other side'') and the person who was inside the elevator will either get out of the elevator (and die at that moment) or stay in the elevator and survive.
That''s what I was thinking too. The rest of the episode was kind of boring but I''m glad I watched.

I don''t watch TV but I had heard about this finale and I recorded it and watched it when I could. What was the significance of 007? How did Meredith know it was George behind the swollen face? I guess I should put the Grey''s Anatomy shows in my Netflix queue.

In the first season when they were all newbie surgery interns George got to be the first to scrub in on a surgery (or maybe it was the first to actually do some cutting). He got to do an appendectomy and almost killed the person somehow. So he earned the nickname ''007'' because he has the license to kill (like James Bond). I''m sure you could find a more eloquent explanation than that but I think that''s pretty much the gist of it.

Man oh man... FI and I watched the finale on the DVR last night. I purposely stayed out of this thread till I watched it! I can honestly say that NEITHER of us saw that coming AT ALL!! I had no idea what 007 meant, so when Meredith started screaming at it, it was just so intense until they shouted that it was George, then my jaw was just dangling for the rest of the episode, haha. Gah, I hate cliffhangers! (At least House wasn''t a cliffhanger!! I was so thankful for that.) But now, thanks to Clairitek, I know what 007 means - thanks!
1.gif
I can''t believe I didn''t notice that George wasn''t in the entire episode - I guess I fell exactly for what the writers were trying to achieve by limiting his screen time during the season!
3.gif

I''m glad Christina and Owen got together - things like that make me happy.
1.gif
I was totally duped though with the scene switching them and George around with the Army recruitment. FI called it right before it happened - gah, I hate it how he can do that!
3.gif

I kind of like how the elevator scene was left open to interpretation. I''d heard all the rumors about both of them leaving, but apparently she''s still up in the air? If so, I''d take it as George was already "on the other side" and she was on her way to that - she didn''t step out of the elevator yet b/c she wasn''t totally gone. I was just waiting for the elevator doors to shut between her and George, and she''d head back as they revived her. Guess we''ll have to wait to see if that happens.

Did anyone think George looked good with the haircut and uniform? FI didn''t even recognize him till I backed it up to show him again. I thought he looked pretty good in it.

What''s the significance of what Izzy was wearing in the elevator? I haven''t seen the early seasons.

What''s the significance of what Izzy was wearing in the elevator? I haven''t seen the early seasons.

In the second season the interns threw a "prom " for a patient. Izzy was engaged to a heart patient "Denny", and he died during the prom. The prom dress is reminiscent of that time, and death. (I guess)

I heard that that Izzie just resigned with ABC for two more seasons on Grey''s...so I''d bet she lives unless they plan to bring her back as some kind of ghost (like the Denny role this season).

I hadn''t heard that George was leaving, that makes me really sad, I loved his character! But if that is in fact true I think this analogy makes perfect sense and still leaves Izzie up in the air for the season premiere in the fall.

I thought the very same thing......especially since Izzy is wearing the dress that has meaning to her relationship with Denny.

Wow, what an idea... that thought never occurred to me, but it makes perfect sense. If that''s what they''re doing, they''ve probably been building up to that especially with the prior face transplant and all.

I also find it interesting about Derek and Meredith''s post-it wedding - the quoted article said it was going to have repercussions next season... hmmm.....

I did not see the whole George/Jon Doe thing coming, but I had heard that he was planning on leaving the show. I was shocked when Meredith figured it out.

I like George, but I think that I would miss Izzy more....if one has to go I mean.

Geez, it''s too bad that her gown was associated with death. I thought it was a pretty style in a very pretty color. Although the movie "27 Dresses" did come to mind and distracted me for a minute. I''d wear that dress in someone''s wedding. LOL!

I put the Grey''s series in my Netflix queue. I''m going to catch up.

in previous seasons the writers used to do a blog after the episodes. The writers said that Izzie''s dress was significant b/c she was the only one in a colored dress. everyone else was is black (for the upcoming death of Denny). Of course, I didn''t catch it at all during that episode but once the writers pointed it out it''s true that all the characters wore black to the prom except Izzie. Then she wore that dress for a couple of days on her bathroom floor in the next season''s premier and couldn''t take it off. I wish the writers still did the blog b/c it was really interesting reading things from their perspective.

A few episodes back the writer refers to George as George "007"..setting the stage as a reminder for the finale.

I haven''t read the thread since last posting, so I don''t know if anyone''s already said this, but has anyone considered that by demolishing George''s face it opens up the possibility of recasting the character? We know they can do really good facial reconstruction from the ferry crash story line. Maybe this is a way to get rid of TR Knight while keeping the George character? Following a traumatic accident like that he would almost have a personality change and PTSD which would also cover the bases for why the new George would have different mannerisms and a different "feeling" to the character.

Personally I think that if they went this route the show would officially jump the shark. It''s just too soap operaish.

I also think Shonda should use this whole "Army trauma doc" thing (not George though) and do a spin off/related show about trauma docs in combat in the middle east. It could be a drama, like China Beach, but with her particular spin or style. I think it would be FANTASTIC!

HH - someone did mention that earlier, but not to the extent you did, about having PTSD and that affecting the character and all. I think it''s interesting, and definitely something they could do.

Also, your idea I quoted above - I think that''s actually a really cool idea. I''d definitely watch it. Any way to submit your idea to the writers??

I agree. I think and hope that Shonda is smart enough not to try this.
