Just wanted to share a great experience with everyone in hopes that it might help some prospective diamond buyers out there who feel exactly the way I did before this purchase-- afraid, very afraid. Just spending several thousand dollars in a run-of-the-mill B&M establishment is enough to quicken most people's pulse, so obviously I was pretty apprehensive about dropping nearly 10 Gs with an *online* e-tailer. This seems especially true when you're talking about diamonds, because your natural inclination is to want to hold them under every light source imaginable, and visually inspect them till you feel like you're gonna go blind. Of course this is not possible in an online scenario, so you're basically at the mercy of the gemologist who's actually looking at the diamond(s) and relaying to you what he/she sees. So it's very important that you trust whomever you're dealing with, which is usually much easier said than done.
I must say, though, that from the first time I spoke to Bob at Whiteflash.com, I was immediately struck by his disarming, calm demeanor, and by the way he meticulously described the entire process-- not in a flashy, sales-driven manner, but with a sense of genuine concern for my comfort level with buying online. He made me feel as if he truly wouldn't want me to buy anything from him unless I was completely at ease with the decision and all my concerns were comfortably put to rest. It's a common practice for companies to boast about how they'll treat you like you're the only customer they have, but I've never seen that claim actually come to fruition until I began working with Bob to select a diamond upgrade for my wife's e-ring.
My wife and I had lots of questions about several different stones we found through the website, and Bob was always happy to oblige, even when we clearly revealed ourlseves to be novice diamond buyers by the repeated requests for similar types of information. Admittedly, we learned through this process just how uneducated we truly were, but now we both feel like we could get by just fine in a high-end jewelry store.
Over the course of the past few weeks I have gone from absolute skeptic to 100% believer that you truly can find quality diamonds online at incredible prices. I can say from personal experience that the folks at Whiteflash.com are extremely sensitive to the concerns and/or fears that the average person has about buying diamonds online, and they will absolutlely not pressure you into doing anything that you have even the slightest doubts about. They have a fantastic upgrade policy and also a very reasonable return policy if you change your mind for any reason, and their diamonds are top-notch.
