It's really up to the person. When I got my PhD I found out my parents weren't planning to come to the ceremony, so I skipped it and went to the beach with my sister and brother.

Taking her out somewhere nice would be really nice, and as far as a gift, something she would treasure, doesn't necessarily have to be as someone said "business-oriented" unless it's something you think she would personally appreciate.

I don't graduate until next year, I'm so excited though. I've been in school for almost 20 years! I worked for a year between college and graduate school, but still, it wasn't "the real world". So I'm preparing myself for some culture shock after I graduate, haha.

Thanks! DD is also into bling like her mom! :naughty: So we think this is the best direction to go.
