My diamond form JA is finally here, I haven''t seen it yet but I''m very excited about it.
A local jeweler is making the setting for me which is a cross between
this one
and this one

I generally don''t like getting any extra insurance when I don''t have to, but I decided that I should probably insure the ring, at least for the first year or two.

I know Jeweler''s Mutual was mentioned a few times on this forum, so was Chubb.
Any other companies that I should look at?
Any experiences working with either of these?

I was also wondering how expensive an appraisal that is accepted by the insurance companies would be?
Has anyone had any problems where the ring appraised for far more than was paid for it?
Obviously I want to know that I got a good deal, I also don''t want to pay too much in premiums on something that I know was not as expensive.

I''ve seen price lists for appraisals at $150 or more, is that what I should expect, or is it for something particularly extensive?

Please let me know,
Thanks

Interesting choice on the setting. I got a ring last month that's very similar in concept. Inspired by the Cartier 1895 and Tiffany Lucida. Here's how it turned out ...

Thats a beautiful setting, and its very close to what I'm looking to get. Although my stone is a bit smaller, a .91 ct round brilliant, with side stones going about half way down, and slightly different angles all around.

By the way, I finally have the stone from JA and it looks amazing! Definitely much better than anything (I've seriously considered for much more) from B&M stores.
