Hi, I recently purchased a whiteflash diamond after a lot of help and coaching from the forum. Now I need to choose betweenn letting whiteflash set the diamond, or for me to buy a diamond somewhere else and find a place to get it set. How are the usuall local jewelers for this? (Kay, Jared..etc)

Thanks!
Sal.

I think you''ll find the quality offered by White Flash and other jewelers offering custom fabrication here on the forum to be superior to that of what you''ll find within the offerings of most maul store jewelers

Yea... Really.

Sal, what kind of setting were you looking for? Custom? solitaire? paved? Any ideas? I got a solitaire from whiteflash and the workmanship looks great on it. got it in platinum.

I bought my stone and had my setting custom made by Whiteflash and very happy! I wouldn''t go to a mall store like Kay''s for something this important and $$$ (but that''s me)

I was looking at something like this:

http://www.engagement-ring-mountings.com/classic_ring_settings_UNIQUE_TWO_TONE_GOLD_ENGAGEMENT_RING_SETTING_1799.htm

Whiteflash found for me something similar.. but not quite. So I was evaluating buying that ring myself and have it set somewhere else vs letting whiteflash handle the whole thing.
I am still not completely sure on what type of ring I want.... but at least since I paid for the diamond allready whiteflash says I can take all the time I want to think about it and they will hold it meanwhile.

Thanks!!!

If you buy the setting you like have you asked to see if WF would set your stone in it?

I just sent them an email asking how that would work.. actually they have been very flexible on that matter. If I decide on a ring soon I dont think I will have somebody else set it.. but if I go into the months timeframe (like I did for the stone).. I was thinking I just might as well ask them to ship the stone and for me to figure out the setting later without any pressure or concerns.

Thanks!
Sal.

If you have someone else set it, make sure that either they will insure it should something happen while setting (i.e. chips, cracks, etc, and Princess are more prone to that slight possibility), or, you get the diamond insured before they set it.
