Very pretty, come back with hand shots!!

Someone asked me what metal the setting is ... it is 950 platinum.

WOW! That ring is incredible! Very nice... probably 100 times nicer in person. I bet pics don''t do justice, do they?

Hey man,

Congrats on your ring!

Right now, I''m looking at around the same specs for my stone and setting for my ring (but I''d only like a row of diamonds on the band instead of 3).

I have some questions :

- how thick *or width?* was the band for the ring? I''m thinking around the 4-7 range, but it could be more because of the 3 rows of diamonds.

- dimensions of your stone in mm?

*I have some more questions, but I''ll give you my email for it: [email protected]

Thanks.

Ditto, she is just going to swooon in such a good way :)

Very sparkly! The rows of diamonds must be very hard to photograph.

Thank you all, again, for the kind posts. This is a truly amazing ring. I have to look at it every hour to see its lively sparkle and fire. It is absolutely out of this world.

DLFB,
My girlfriend told me her ring finger is a size 7; however, I was not sure, so I sneaked away two of her rings (which she wears on her left ring finger)- one was a 7, and the other was a 6.5. The one that was a 7, was a thicker banded ring, so I went with a 7 for the engagement ring as well. This was probably the hardest part of the process - finding out her exact finger ring. I am confident 7 is right, though, even with the three rows of diamonds.

The centerpiece stone in mm I am not sure of, to be honest(I never really asked to get it measured or was curious to know). However, I can find out more info from my jeweler, but he is off until Monday. I will ask him and report back to you. I'd be glad to help ...

Any more questions, post up here ...

Actually, nvm the center stone measurements, I would like the measurement of the side stones the jeweler used.

For the ring "width", this is what I meant (sorry if I used your beautiful ring as a sample):

Thanks!

hi avus, i first saw your ring on SMTR and i thought it was gorgeous, i was also thinking of getting a design replicated by an independent jeweler, i am having doubts about it, but i can see that you were happy with your choice, did the ring end up looking the same as the original or was it tweaked? i see it is beautiful nonetheless

DLFB,
I'll have to find that out from the jeweler and let you know those details as I don't know those ...

You gonna steal my design now, are you?

fickle,
The design was a general concept from a Scott Kay design. However, the design was tweaked and somewhat changed(by my request, not because the jeweler didn't do an outstanding job, because he certainly did) from the original and I actually think it looks FAR better than the original design. I told the jeweler I wanted some changes to the original and it turned out PERFECT.

I couldn't be more happy with the final product ... this is truly and exactly what I envisioned from the start. The most crucial part was finding the reliable and experienced independent jeweler ... and I did that.

ahh no, absolutely not. it''ll be way off from your design(your ring will have way more stones than what I''m thinking as a setting). its just that I happen to look for a similar stone like yours and it''ll have side stones as well on the setting. I''ll have my ring done overseas as well, so approximate measurements are important.

thanks, looking forward to those measurement!

Congrates on the setting turning out exactly like you imagined!!!! That is not always an easy thing to achieve!!! I like how it hardly shows any metal and looks very delicate, like a sea of sparkle from every angle.

Cant wait for handshots and all the details of your partners reaction!!! She will probably be beyond thrilled!!!!

DLFB,
Just busting your chops, man ... I''ll definitely see from my jeweler to those mm measurements and let you know through the email you provided

Sharon,
Yes, that''s exactly how I wanted it. I wanted it to sparkle like crazy from any angle she looked at it, especially under good lighting and the ring does EXACTLY that.

Proposal will be the first weekend of January (it is set in stone and I have it planned out), so I''ll post shots soon thereafter ...

BIG CHANGE OF PLANS!!!! I will no longer be waiting until January time frame, I just can''t wait anymore. We will be going overseas to visit her parents, so I figured what better present for Christmas and to celebrate with her parents than an engagement!

I''ll be proposing next weekend, Dec 12th weekend, a week prior to our departure overseas ... Friday or Saturday night next weekend, I haven''t decided yet.

I am having the local newspaper print a 1/2 page flyer ad of a picture of me on my knee with the ring box and a note below it that says, "will you marry me?" I plan to have the newspaper and slip it into her mailbox while she''s in the shower or doing something. I''ll get the mail, put it on the table (she always loves to go through mail) and then BAM, she''ll see the flyer - which is going to be an ad for sales on bridal dresses and such ... she''ll open it and see my picture in there. By the time she realizes what is going on, I''ll be kneeling behind waiting for her to turn around ...

STAY TUNED >>> will be posting hand shots upon our engagement next weekend ...

Yes, everything, including the centerpiece, was purchased from Quest.

The original design is a Scott Kay. I just asked for some tweaks here and there, but it turned out perfect.

Yes it did... she sure is a lucky lady!!! Good luck!

SHE SAID YESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!

It took her about 10 minutes to say anything ... I surprised her before our trip overseas about a month ago ... she kept looking at me and then the ring ... she did not expect it AT ALL!!!!

I kept asking, well? well? and she started to cry ... of course, I was starting to get worried and then she hugged me like I''ve never been hugged before in my life and in that moment, I knew yet again why I was giving this woman an engagement ring. She said yes and we celebrated that night and since for the last month!

Hand pics to come this weekend, hopefully, if not, this upcoming week ... haven''t had a chance

Awww -- congratulations! That''s so sweet!

CONGRATS! =)

That is one AWESOME RING! I''m sure that she''ll say yes! Looking forward to seeing pics of the ring on her finger!!
