Hi guys, this is my first post on pricescope!
I did a lot of brainstorming in the past two months and I've come up with a few proposal ideas. I like them all in their own unique way so I thought I'd get you guys' opinion on this.

My Ideas:

1. highway proposal: rent a closed box trailer and write "(Her name), Will you marry me?" on the side. Her friend will be driving her somewhere on the highway and the truck pulling the trailer will pass the vehicle displaying the message and pulls in front of the car. That's when I'll be in the trailer with the trailer door open (and safely tethered), on my knees, holding a sign that says "honk twice for yes!"

2. Vegas 4th of july: This is where we sort of first met (long story). I'll have a top-floor suite booked facing the strip (kept secret) but when I check in, the front desk will tell me all of the normal rooms are booked but they can upgrade us to the suite for free- that way she won't be suspecting any special. On the night of 4th of july, we'll be watching the fireworks from our amazing view and that's when I'll propose.

3. Bookstore: This is where my creative/artsy side comes in. I'll have a hard-cover, children's book written and drawn by me about a turtle falling in love with a snail :ugeek: (don't make fun of me). I'll have it arranged with the book store owner so the book is on the shelf when we walk in. I'll tell my gf to find a cute book for my niece who loves turtles. I don't know yet, but I'll have to convince her to open and read the whole thing (about 6-8 pages with pictures and one sentence per page) and in the end something along the lines of "he knew he wanted to be with her forever. That's when he decided to ask..." and as she flips the page, it's just blank pages and hopefully leaving her confused. That's when I'll propose.

4. Toy store: Kind of same idea as bookstore except I have to rig a Sheriff Woody doll (from toy story). We love toy story and we have all of Woody's quotes memorized (I know, we're nerds), so when she sees the doll, she'll pull the string to make Woody talk. Woody will say what he normally says each time you pull the string, until about the 5th or 6th pull. That's when it'll say something along the lines of "I love you (her name), Will you marry me?" And I get on my knee.

5. Skype: We've been having a long distance relationship for a while so we've Skyped often. I'll have a pre-recorded conversation and I'll fill in pauses and stuff so she'll just talk to the recording without knowing. Then I'll say something like I have to tell you something and I'll tell her how much I love her, wish I can be there with her etc (This will all be done through a special software that lets you stream movie files through skype). Assuming there's no technical difficulties, she'll be fully convinced that I'm at my house while I'll be running this operation in her roommates room and at the end of the recording, I (in the recording) will say, I have one question to ask you. That's when I'll come in room and propose.

Sorry for the long post....

Good ideas!

I voted for the 1st one, but I think any of them will do.

Best of luck :)

I think those all sound like good ideas. The highway one seems like it has the most potential to go 'wrong' (tethered sounds...dangerous?) plus she wouldn't get the experience of having you say those words to her :) I would pick whichever one sounds like the most 'you' :)

I personally like the sound of either #2 or #4 the best, but you should pick whichever you think she'd love most. Good luck to you!

The suite in Vegas on the 4th sounds the most romantic to me. The highway and skype idea would be last on the list.

Proposing is a very personal thing, however, so your gf may enjoy the two options that I liked the least.

I'm a goob and accidentally voted for the bookstore, I meant to vote for the Toy Store. I think the Toy Story and the Woody doll is something the two of you both love, kind of an inside thing. I love the idea of having the Woody doll forever, and giving it to your children someday too.

thanks for the replies! :)

I actually booked a suite facing the strip yesterday. But that doesn't mean I'm 100% set on that plan. I figured if I change my mind or if I can't find THE ring in time, then I can just cancel the reservation and get my money back.

Keep the opinions coming, though!

I voted for the skype thing because of the element of surprise. If you did the Vegas thing she may be able to figure out what's going on. Even before you get to Vegas she might think you'll be doing it on that trip. With skype, she will "see" you at your place and won't think there's any way she's about to be proposed to.

I love the bookstore idea! I'm a nerd though and me and my BF both love to read so it just seems like the most creative and special way. Plus, she'll be able to keep to book forever!

I'm pretty much dead set on either vegas or book store.... It's even harder to decide now that it's narrowed down :?

I voted Vegas, but the bookstore would be very sweet and a total surprise...plus she'll have the book to give to your future little ones (if you two decide to have them). That would be VERY sentimental and unique!

ETA: Why not do both? Go to a bookstore in Vegas! Then you can celebrate in style that evening! :naughty: You can tell her after that you couldn't decide which and had thought about proposing during the fireworks. That way if she REALLY would have loved to have the room, etc. with you, she won't be missing out on it.
